Matilda

Matilda is book written by British Novelist, writer poet Roald Dahl. He is one of the
greatest storytellers for children of 20th century. His work includes the BFG, Fantastic Mr
Fox, Charlie and the chocolate factory and Matilda.
The author describes the story of Matilda, who is vivid and voracious reader.
Although there are some parent who overestimate the children ability but Mr. wormwood the
father of Matilda is rather opposite who undermine the Matilda’s ability. As a four-year-old
she has read over twist, jane Eyre, The invisible man & animal farm etc.
The father Mr wormwood is car dealer for second hand cars. He makes huge profits
by use of sawdust with oil in gear box and use High speed electric drill the run the
speedometer backward. Matilda points out that it is cheating with customer. But her father get
angry and call her ignorant little squirt.
Since reading books have widened her mind, she start to devise plan to teach her
father a lesson. She put superglue on hat. Mrs. Wormwood had to Cut the cap and hair in
order to get rid of the superglue and hat. When ask who has done the same, she clever put the
blame on boy who lives down street.
Another incident happens when she was reading the book in front of TV. The father
switch on the television but maltida doesn’t get disturbed and read quietly. It annoys Mr.
wormwood in a sudden anger he torn the book in the pieces. Maltida get upset as these books
belong to library which had to returned. Smart Maltida then borrow the Parrot from Fred (her
friend) and wedge the cage up the chimney. Later at night when Parrot start making noises
like “Hallow Hallow!” Maltida indicate that it could be possible ghost which frighten her
entire family.
Later her father at the age of 5 send her to school where she met Miss Jenifer Honey.
Miss Honey is mild quiet person who posses gift of being adored by small children. In the
class she came to know the ability of Maltida. She meets with headmistress to talk about
extraordinary capacity of Maltida.
The Headmistress Trunchbull rather have a negative perception of Maltida. Mr.
Wormwood had conveyed her about her mischiefs and ask to be strict with her. Mrs Honey
confront Trunchbull and ask to put Maltida in higher grade. But Trunchbull perceive that
Miss honey is trying to get rid of Maltida as she even can’t tolerate her. Miss Honey turn and
walk out feeling depressed as she just want to help Maltida to realize her full potential.
How Miss Honey will help Maltida? What will happen when Miss Trunchbull met
Maltida? Will Maltida ’s Parent ever realize that they had prodigy child?
