V. Course Requirements
1. Class attendance and participation policy:
(a) Prior to performing the first experiment, each student is required to attend the laboratory orientation session to be able to learn
the safety and operational procedures of the Physics laboratories. Each student will then have to sign the laboratory policy

agreement form and submit the Laboratory Technician. An INC final mark will be given to the student who failed to submit the
required agreement form.
(b) Attendance is expected in this course in order to achieve maximum learning. Unforeseen circumstances do sometimes arise, so
periodic absences may occur. If you find that you miss a class meeting, please contact the instructor prior to the class.
(c) Please be on time. If you must arrive late, let the instructor know prior to the class.
(d) Please be reminded that the University has a strict policy against cheating. You may refer to the Student Handbook Sec 4.2 on
pages 38-40 for the specific guidelines on academic dishonesty and cheating.
2. Course Readings/Materials:
(a) Titles, authors, and editions of textbooks and other materials, required and recommended
i. Young, H., Freedman, R. (2012). University Physics with Modern Physics (13th Edition). New York: Addison-Wesley Publishing
Company.Giancoli, D. (2007). Physics: Principles with Applications (6th Edition). Singapore: Pearson Education, Inc.

3. Assignments, Assessment, and Evaluation
(a) Assignments are also given to help students facilitate students in developing study habit in their homes. No late assignment will be
accepted.
(b) A seatwork would be given mostly after a topic has been discussed. There shall be no make-up quiz, seatwork or assignment to be
given.
(c) Long Quizzes shall be announced in the class. If a student is sick or have death in the immediate family during long quizzes and
major exams, the students will discuss the arrangements with the instructor for any make-up exam to be given. The student must
have written and valid proof to make up for a long quiz or exam. This should be done not later than one week after his/her last
absence. Failure to comply would mean a score of zero on the missed exam.
(d) Late projects will be given equivalent deduction per hour.
(e) All laboratory activities required for the course must be performed. Absence from any activity will mean a score of zero. Make-up
for missed activities should be properly arranged with the Instructor and Laboratory Technician.
(f) A laboratory report should be submitted at the end of the laboratory period, unless specified otherwise by the instructor. Photocopied
laboratory reports will earn no credits.
(g) Laboratory Quizzes shall be announced in the class. If a student is sick or have death in the immediate family during long quizzes
and major exams, the students will discuss the arrangements with the instructor for any make-up exam to be given. The student
must have written and valid proof to make up for a long quiz or exam. This should be done not later than one week after his/her
last absence. Failure to comply would mean a score of zero on the missed exam.
