Concept Paper

High tide often causes flooding in Purok 1, Poblacion Lagonglong, Misamis Oriental, Philippines. Flooding from high tides can reach knee-deep and causes problems like contaminated water, dirty grounds, and damaged gardens. Flooding is worsened by garbage that causes water to rise higher. Residents have also witnessed increased flooding as sea levels rise. Literature suggests that rising sea levels will exacerbate flooding problems in coastal areas from high tides and storm surges by the end of the century. The study aims to understand the problem of high tide flooding in Purok 1 through interviews with affected residents to gather their perspectives and ideas to address the issue.

Introduction:

High tide is an event that happens when the water advances to its furthest extent ontothe
shoreline. It is an event that can predict by celestial body through locating the place qhere the
event or happenings will occur. The Coastal location around in Purok 1, Poblacion Lagonglong,
Misamis Oriental was affecting the peopywhen it comes the high tide that brings flood in the
population, it may occur the causes with the negative effect that can harmful to the people
around.

The High tide topic must pertains for any conditions that bring any different types of micro-
organisms such as germs, leptospirosis, diarrhoea and itc. Due to the causes of high tide is one
of the problem at Purok 1, Poblacion Lagonglong, Misamis Oriental and it is happen when the
water intensify and free to overflow.

Sea-level rise and will become a high tide that occur when the water was free to go anywhere
and cannot control it. Therefore, this paper will show that the topic talk's about the awareness
and explanations why we are conducting this type of research including the significance to be
discuss in this paper. However, it should be aiming an important informations to support the
topic that can make knowledgeable and readable to the readers.

Background of the study:

The topic must pertains the causes and effects due to the population problems like overflowing
of the contaminated water that can bring a huge impact such as bacteria, dirty ground,
affecting the garden and others that can harm to the people at Zone 1 Poblacion Lagonglong,
Misamis Oriental. High tide brings flood is the one problem of Zone 1 Poblacion Lagonglong,
Misamis Oriental due to the huge impact that create big damages at the society. The flood is so
deep and it is measured by knee level that can affect the plants or the flowers around of the
particular place. This problem had a reason why the water overflowing and created a flood, one
of the reason is the garbages that the water could intensify and bringing a big problem to the
people around. The coastal area witnesses the impact of the sea level due to the coming of the
high tide and it was already predictable that when it comes of high tide, there is always a flood
that it brings.

Preliminary Literature Review:

Around the world, many people who live in lying areas are predict to have significant flooding-
related difficulties in the years to come, wile people who live in coastal towns and cities are
anticipated to encounter particular hardships. For instance, it is anticipated that some Asian
megacities will have significantly increased geographic flooding exposure, significant increases
in the number of flooding incidents, significant damage to buildings and infrastructure, and
substantial financial expenditures assocated with such disaster. (Williams and Arguillas, 2020).
Most predictions of the average sea level rise this century are below 2 meters. This amount is
comparable to the positive vertical bias of NASA's SRTM, the primary digital elevation model
(DEM) used to evaluate exposures of the national and global population to extreme coastal
water levels. Through the increasing of high water level at the sea, the sea level must giving a
predictable condition that has bring a huge impact to the people around especially to the
coastal area. (Kulp and Strauss, 2019). By the end of the century, sea levels are predicted to rise
by up to a meter on of flooding and erosion in vulnerable coastal areas when combined with
shorter-term changes in sea level (such as high tides, storm surges, etc.) Understanding their
beliefs and respones becomes more crucial as communities are exposed to these risks to an
increasing extent. (Thomas, Pigeon, Whitmarsh, Ballinger, 2015). Making a clear connection
between theoritical nations of flood vulnerable and the everyday decision-making process and
encapsulating this connection in an easily accessible tool are two of the most crucial goals of
assessing coastal flood vulnerable, in particular. The development of a Coastal City flood
vulnerable Index (CCFVI) based on exposure, susceptibility, and resilience to coastal flooding is
the main topic of this article. (Balica, Wright, Meulen, 2022)

Statement of the problem/objectives:

The topic was giving a problem to the people around at Zone 1, Poblacion Lagonglong, Misamis
Oriental because of the High tide condition tha causes flood due to the high sea level at coastal
area. For instance, the specific problem at Zone 1, Poblacion Lagonglong, Misamis Oriental is a
"High tide that causes of flood that brings a huge problem at the population. This kind of event
should take in control to manage the water flowing unto the sea and when the High tide comes,
the people at the coastal area could predict that the high sea level was create a flood because
of the river that cannot the water flow well. The water intensify from the river that causes a
huge flood at Zone 1, Poblacion Lagonglong, Misamis Oriental.

Our participants are the people who are affecting the flood around at Zone 1 Poblacion,
Lagonglong Misamis, Oriental because they are witnesses what are the happenings during the
High tide that brings flood at Zone 1 Poblacion Lagonglong. We conducted a personal interview
to know their opinions about the problem caused by high tide and also, to come up an idea to
solve this problem. To provide the data collection procedures, it must be consulting by
individuals who are witness about the happenings at the specific plan. It should be include their
answers on what we can help to solve the problem they experience.
