Set Induction Skill

Set induction skill is one of the skills in microteaching that is used to introduce a lesson. It involves getting students ready and interested to learn by gaining their attention, motivating them, and suggesting the approach of the lesson. Good set induction does not start teaching directly but writes the date, subject, and standard on the board in a pleasant manner. It should arouse curiosity, revive previous knowledge, use teaching aids effectively, have a clear statement of aim and title, link to the unit, and manage time well. Closure is also important, linking back to objectives and reviewing major points to evaluate learning.
