32) Solve the following equations graphically. 2x-y=10, x-3y=15. Shade the triangle
formed by these lines with x-axis. Identify its co-ordinates.

34) Sides AB and BC and median AD of a triangle ABC are respectively proportional to sides
PQ and QR and median PM of a triangle PQR. Show that ∆ABC ∼ ∆PQR. If AB=6cm,
PQ=8cm AC=10cm , find PR.
35) The angles of depression of the top and bottom of a building 50 metres high as observed from
the top of a tower are 30° and 60°, respectively. Find the height of the tower and also the
horizontal distance between the building and the tower.

36) Eiffel Tower : The Eiffel Tower is a landmark and an early example of wrought-iron
construction on a gigantic scale. The lower section consists of four immense arched legs
set on masonry piers. The legs curve inward until they unite in a single tapered tower.
Platforms, each with an observation deck, are at three levels; on the first is also a
restaurant. The tower, constructed of about 7000 tons of iron, has stairs and elevators.
A meteorological station, a radio communications station, and a television transmission
antenna, as well as a suite of rooms that were used by Eiffel are located near the top of

the tower.
a) For a person standing 324 m from the centre of the base of the Eiffel Tower, the angle
of elevation to the top of the tower is 450. How tall is the Eiffel Tower?

b) If the person were standing closer , how would the angle of elevation of the top of the
tower be affected? (1 mark)
c) A car is moving at uniform speed towards the Eiffel tower. It takes 15 minutes for the
angle of depression from the top of tower to the car to change from 300 to 600. How
much time after this, the car will reach the base of the tower?

37) The class X students school in krishnagar have been allotted a rectangular plot of land
for their gardening activity. Saplings of Gulmohar are planted on the boundary at a
distance of 1 m from each other. There is triangular grassy lawn in the plot as shown in
the figure. The students are to sow seeds of flowering plants on the remaining area of
the plot.

a) Taking A as origin, find the coordinates of P,Q and R. (1 mark)

c) Find the perimeter of ∆ PQR (1 mark)

38) It is common that Governments revise travel fares from time to time based on
various factors such as inflation ( a general increase in prices and fall in the
purchasing value of money) on different types of vehicles like auto, Rickshaws,
taxis, Radio cab etc. The auto charges in a city comprise of a fixed charge
together with the charge for the distance covered. Study the following situations:

Situation 1: In city A, for a journey of 10 km, the charge paid is Rs 75 and for a
journey of 15 km, the charge paid is Rs 110.

journey of 14km, the charge paid is Rs 145.
