Teaching Grammar With Board Races
Teaching Grammar With Board Races
Date: 15-01-2021
The activity to be carried out is through the Board Races which consists of listing some
words that have already been studied. After the list is made, each person in the team must
run to the board and write a word under the column depending on the form it takes and
so on, each member of the group makes the active one until they have finished and the
winning team is the one that has the correct answers. After the activity is done, the
correction is made with the students, making a sentence.
But also keep in mind that some things can go wrong with the activity, for example:
Students can walk instead of running to the board. This can be avoided by giving them a
prize when they win, which encourages competition and also keeps them motivated.
When doing the activity it is important to do a previous practice so that the students are
clear about what they are going to do, it is also very important that the teacher is active
during the Board Races and not less important to say what the rules are to be able to do
the activity.
The Board Races creates a much more dynamic class and is also very versatile since any
type of grammar can be categorized as: Verbs, adjectives, time conjugations, regular and
irregular verbs. But this activity is not only limited to grammar but can also be done with
the vocabulary. As teachers it is good to look for other ways to teach classes that go
beyond the conventional and innovate so that the students have a better learning so that
they can understand in a more creative and dynamic way.
