Introduction to MP2100

PRO Panel MP2100 Systems are totally integrated, PC

compatible operator interface panels designed to provide a full
color, active matrix, TFT flat screen display and a powerful PC
compatible CPU in a compact, environmentally sealed, rugged
enclosure. These systems are designed to perform in diverse
industrial environments. The systems are fully enclosed and do
not require external fans for ventilation. However, for high-
temperature operation in direct sunlight, an air manifold could
be attached at the base of the heatsink fins. Since there is no
exchange with outside air, the systems provide dust-free
operation.

Materials needed: network hub and standard network cable

Test is performed in DOS mode. Ping from one computer to

another.

Before you start, record the current network software settings

ö From DOS prompt type “c:\ipconfig” - this is used to find local IP

address
ö To ping type: c:\ping <ip address>
ö Continuous ping < - t> (Ctrl-Break to exit)
ö Internal Ping (ping 127.0.0.1)

̈ Serial Port Test Troubleshooting

First, make sure that you don’t have two serial ports
configured with the same hardware interrupt

Also make sure that you don’t have any network cards or
other cards configured for the COM1: or COM2:
interrupts (Usually IRQ 4 and 3, respectively)

If you are using a loop-back plug, make sure that it is

inserted properly into the correct port

Diagnostics
̈ Common POST Visual Error Messages
CMOS battery failed The CMOS battery is no longer functional.

FLASH/HARD DISK Cannot find or initialize the hard drive controller or the drive.
INSTALL FAILURE Make sure the controller is installed correctly. If no hard drives
are installed, be sure the Hard Drive selection in Setup is set to
NONE.

Keyboard error or no Cannot initialize the keyboard. Make sure the keyboard is
Keyboard present attached correctly and no keys are pressed during POST. To
purposely configure the system without a keyboard, set the error
halt condition in Setup to HALT ON ALL, BUT KEYBOARD. The
BIOS then ignores the missing keyboard during POST.
Memory test fail If POST detects an error during memory testing, additional
information appears giving specifics about the type and location
of the memory error.
