Part-I Description of the Best Practice

The division of ________________ has endured enormous obstacles brought about

by the pandemic, as with the rest of the divisions all over the country, and even across
the globe which prompted the division to implement the most applicable learning
modality for the ____________ learners- Modular Distance Modality (Print) for two school
years. Just as when the division was slowly transitioning to limited in-person classes in
2021, an unprecedented disaster challenged the province, ST Odette, which damaged
educational facilities, learning materials and equipment amounting to more than a
billion pesos.
With this, the division is faced with major roadblocks and hurdles in providing
quality education. Thus, learning losses and gaps need to be addressed so as to at least
cushion the learners from the severe aftermath of the storm and the negative impact of
the pandemic on education. If they are not addressed, students are likely to fall further

What was the situation before the initiative began?

After two years of Modular Distance Learning, learners have returned to the
classrooms severely damaged by the typhoon with very varied levels of
proficiency, thus the conduct of learning gap assessment to identify gaps and
individual learning levels of learners using appropriate, credible and reliable
assessment tools, was necessary. With the very dismal results in reading
proficiency and all the subject areas, the division now aims to reengineer
immediate and long-term actions to resolve this.

2. How was the prioritization done based on the issues and implementation?

First, educational leaders formulate and stablished activities that accelerate

learners’ literacy and numeracy levels anchored on the MELCs to be prioritized
based on the most pressing needs determined in the diagnostic assessment and
other standardized tests.

Second, innovative strategies and research-based interventions will be

implemented in this division in the years to address the learning gaps.

be intensified to get involvement from the community and to engage more
