Career Development Plan in Workday - Employee Guide - GLOBAL
1. To start, log into Workday and click on your profile picture in the upper right-hand corner and select
View Profile.

3. From the menu on the top, select Interests and update your career interests, travel, and relocation
Preferences.
4. After you have updated your interests, click on Development Items, and Add the items you wish to
develop. You may have to select More to view the Development Items option. Identify 2-4 development
areas you want to work on to further grow and develop. These areas could include capabilities,
behaviors, knowledge, or experiences (i.e. Improve communication skills, gain global experience, create
an inclusive environment). For each area, consider what actions, knowledge and technical or functional
skills are required to support development and enter them into Additional Information textbox.
5. Select Start Date and Completion Date as well as Status and Category of the development activities.
Status and Category are required fields. Category represents six JLL’s Leadership Capabilities. Make
sure to consider which of the capabilities does your development support. To learn more about our

6. Click Add to create another development item. You can come back to this page at any time if you need to
create or update your development items.
7. Once you updated your development items you are ready to create your Career Development Plan.
Click on Development Plans. You may have to select More to view the Development Plans option.
1. From the Development Plans tab, click on Start My Development Plan at the bottom of the page.
Alternatively, you can enter ‘Start My Development Plan’ into Workday Search field.
2. You will have two options to choose from. Either Career Plan > Career Development Plan, or
Leadership Capabilities > Leadership Capabilities Assessment
1. Select the Career Development Plan template in Review Template, select Start Date and End Date for
the development plan. Then click Submit at the bottom.
2. You will receive a Workday Inbox task inviting you to create a Career Development Plan.
3. Your inbox task will offer you a guided or summary editor options. You can select Guided Editor if you
would like to continue to work on your Career Plan. Or click Summary Editor for a quick review.

4. The first field you will be required to fill out is around your Career Interests & Mobility. To update your
career interests, travel preferences and relocation preferences; click the Pen symbol on the right side of
each section.
5. Select your Career Preferences in the drop-down menu. You can select more than one career
preference.
6. Next, you have the option to specify what Career Interests you have.

7. Click Next when you have filled out your Career Interests & Mobility Preferences to update your Travel
and Relocation Preferences.
8. Continue to the Development Needs & Action Plan. Identify development areas you want to work on to
further grow and development. Click Add to add items to your plan.
9. Click Next when you have added your development items to review.
10. Review your Interests and Development Items and edit if necessary. Click Next and then Submit.
11. Once submitted, your Career Development Plan will be sent to your manager to review.
12. Click Save for Later if you wish to work on it more and need to come back to it another time.
Quick tip: If you made any additional edits to your Interests or Development Items, your
information will be immediately updated in the Career Section of your worker profile.
13. Once a plan has been submitted, the Development Items can be updated by accessing the Career tab
of your profile at any time. A Career Development Plan in Workday is a static document. if you make
major updates to your Interests or Development Items, we recommend you create a new plan.
14. To view your Career Development Plans, go to your Workday profile and click Career. Then click
Development Plans. You will see the list of plans you have here. Click View next to the specific plan you
want to see more about.
