Celebrations in Malaysia .
Diwali is a festival of lights and one of the major festivals celebrated
by Hindus. The preparation for Diwali celebration begins weeks before the
festival. People begin with the preparations by cleaning their houses and then
decorated with lights, lamps, flowers and other decorative items. People will
also shop for new clothes such as Saree, Jippa, Dhoti and Kurta. They usually
serves Indian cuisine like Tosai, Vadal, Capati and Naan during the celebration.
The festivals usually last for five days.
Hari Raya Aidilfitri is one of the major celebrations by Muslims which
celebrated on 1st Syawal. It is literally means ‘celebration day’ that marks the
end of Ramadhan, the Islamic holy month of dawn-to-sunset fasting. Hari Raya
Aidilfitri is the right day to enjoy delicious Malay delicacies like Ketupat,
Lemang, Rendang and Dodol. People also usually dressed up in new beautiful
clothes such as Baju Melayu, Kebaya and Baju Kurung. The festivals last the
whole month of Syawal.
