H.B Commerce Classes

This document provides the sections and questions for a statistics exam on skewness and frequency distributions for class 11 commerce students. Section A contains 3 multiple choice questions worth 2 marks each on identifying skewness, median, and coefficient of skewness from frequency distributions. Section B contains 1 question worth 4 marks to calculate coefficient of skewness using Bowley's Method from a given frequency table. Section C contains 2 questions worth 5 marks each to calculate skewness and coefficient using Karl Pearson's Method from tables of machine rejections and cotton mill consumption. The final section contains 1 additional question worth 4 marks to find coefficient of skewness using Bowley's Method for a table of power consumption by machines.

Section A : Solve the following (2 marks each) (6)

1. The coefficient of a skewed frequency distribution is 0.75. If its standard deviation is 20

and mean is 37.5, find the median.
2. The three quantities of a frequency distribution are 76, 98 and 40. Find j and state the
type of skewness.
3. If a frequency distribution has x̄ + M0 = 82, x̄ = 44 & s = 12, find the coefficient of
skewness.

Section B : Solve the following (4 marks each) (4)

1. The frequency distribution of the number of accidents due to driving for more
than the prescribed time is given below. Find coefficient of skewness by
Bowley’s Method.
