OUTLINE: EFFECTS OF INTERNATIONAL MUSIC TOWARDS MALAYSIAN YOUNGSTER I. Introduction Music plays a major role towards the society. It is a great essential and become the need to help them to get through with their lives. However music has influence youths in a bad ways and vice versa such as learning foreign languages, cultural influences and influence youths behaviors. (Thesis statement) II. Body A. Learning foreign language by listening to an international music. (Zaraysky) 1. English and foreign language learner benefits of listening to music. (Lynch) a. Learn a foreign language especially English language. ( Kaufmann) i. Listening to certain types of music help the youths to learn foreign language. Mostly western music influenced on learning second language.

B. Another effect is cultural influence on the Malaysian youths. 1. According to Premack, 2011 listening to music may lead to increasing thoughts of aggression and thus might also lead to depression. a. It has the potential to evoke the youngsters emotions b. Increase the aggression related thoughts and emotions, as a result corrupted their mind with vulgar lyrics.

Emotions that control a person tend to do and follow based from what the lyrics says. It might lead to depression towards the Malaysian youngsters due to listening to an international music.

C. Apart from that, one other reason is listening to an international music will achieved the brain stimulation effect. 1. Developed rhythm skills perform better academically in early school years. a. There was a significant difference in the academic achievement levels of students classified according to rhythmic competency.

Music enhances their stimulation of the brain making every sense to be very sharp. Students which are the youngsters who were achieving at academic expectation scored high on all rhythmic tasks.

D. Conclusion
From our research, we have built a vast base of knowledge on not only an international music's effects towards youngsters on the mind, but also give impact on their emotions and attitudes. From the knowledge we have gained, various genres of music have helped support our belief that music can in fact have both beneficial and harmful consequences. (Restatement of thesis statement)
The official religion of Malaysia is Islam, and in Islam there has been an ongoing controversy about the legitimacy of music. Many believe that music is forbidden owing to its negative influences on a person.

Malaysia is a multi-ethnic country in which the major ethnic groups are the Malays, Chinese, Indians and the indigenous people. Prior to independence in 1957, Malaysia experienced domination by the British and the Japanese, and this had a major influence on the development of music in Malaysia. Before the Second World War, traditional and folk musics were considered popular culture among Malaysians (Lockard, 1998). But popular music as we know it today had its beginnings after the Second World War when the British occupation brought about considerable changes to the Malay scene. One of these changes was that Malaysian popular music and culture inevitably reflected the reality of a plural society and of Western influence. The Malays mainly followed Malay, Indonesian and Middle Eastern socio-cultural developments. The Chinese minority seemed to favour music from Singapore, Taiwan and Hong Kong, while Indian pop culture has mostly been imported from
India. Subsequently, Western (Anglo-American) cultural influence seeped in and had the strongest impact on the Chinese, Indians and Malays who attended schools where English is the medium of instruction, especially in the urban areas. While some of the music is essentially derivative of Western styles with a little local flavour, some is clearly transcultural with a blend of indigenous and imported influences (Lockard, 1998). Wi th the advent of development and globalization, the Western influence was inevitable. Styles that are considered popular music in Malaysia include genres such as pop, rap, hiphop, rock, rhythm and blues, and heavy metal. The influence of popular music is a lso evident in the music of religious groups who try to deliver their message in styles that most people relate to, in music that blends ethnic elements and popular styles (known as pop ethnic), and in arrangements of traditional/ethnic music. While most people accept these trends, there are those who still advocate maintaining the purity of the less popular musical styles, particularly traditional music.

Listening to music can make people feel connected with the lyrics thus constantly affect the human emotions?On the other hand, there are also the down side effects of listening to music. The effects are it changes the human behaviours from time to time depending on what genre of music they are listening to, has a profound effect on the human emotions and it also achieved the brain stimulation effect.
? According to Sohn, listening to music causes the brain to releasedopamine, a feelgood chemical. Dopamine induced pleasure may help explain why music has been such a big part of human societies throughout history. Understanding why people like listening to music is helping scientists understand human pleasure has confirmedthat as human beings, music is an inherent part of who we really are. Music plays a major role andhas become a part of everyones life. The connection between music and human is really unique and has a strong bonding till it give the Malaysian youngsters big impacts on their lives.

Violent lyrics promote youth to violence so therefore youngsters presumably must find violent or substance related messages in the song and consequently encourage them to do experimentation with illicit drugs and such.
