HOLY HOUR

For the Clergy of Talibon

I. Entrance Rite

A. Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament

Opening Song: O SALUTARIS

O Salutaris Hostia
Quae coeli pandis ostium.
Bella premunt hostilia;
Da robur fer auxilium.

Uni trinoque Domino

Sit sempiterna gloria:
Qui vitam sine termino,
Nobis donet in patria.
Amen.

(short pause of silence)

II. Liturgy of the Hours

B. Evening Prayer

(proper of the day ... up to concluding prayer only ... no dismissal)

III. Penitential Service

C. In Harmony with God and His Creation

Celebrant: Let us pray to our Father in heaven, for He is tender and merciful,
patient and forgiving. (pause for short silence)

God our Father

and Lord of all creation,
we come to you in sorrow for our sins
and with trust in your mercy.
Let it become true in us what we pray daily:
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
And if we still have a hard time to forgive,
dispose us to imitate your love without boundaries.
2

Reconcile us with you, with one another

and with all of creation.
We ask this through your Son
and praise your holy name
through Jesus Christ our Lord.

ALL : Amen.

Prayer for Sinners

Celebrant: Let us pray for all sinners,

for the sinners we are and for others,
and ask our merciful Father to forgive us all:

(pause for short silence)

ALL : Heavenly Father,

you are kind and merciful,
patient and full of compassion;
we know that you do not want the sinner to die
but to live and to serve you and people
and to proclaim your leniency and forgiveness.

Convert our hearts,

bring us back to you and turn us to our brothers and sisters.
Give us the mentality of Jesus
and let his Spirit enlighten our minds,
that we may be aware of the evil in and around us.
Let Him make us strong in our determination
to do away with all wrongs
and to grow in love for one another
and for you, our living God.

Father, forgive us all our sins

and help us to lift up one another too.
We ask this in the name of Jesus the Lord.

ALL : Amen.

Examination of Conscience

Celebrant: Sin alienates us from God, from one another,

and even from God’s creation.
We now ask the Spirit to enlighten us
to make us aware of our share in evil.
3

(assistant minister in short pause every after question)

Minister : God provide for the birds in the sky and gives them their food in

due time. He looks after the flowers in the field. Do we have trust
in his providence, that he cares also for us? Do we share in his
solicitude for people and for nature?

Christ is the vine and we are the branches. Do we try our best to
produce good fruits of honesty and integrity?

Do we thank the Lord for the service and the food that he lets
plants and animals provide us with?

God has made all things good and entrusted them to our care.
Have we used the forces of nature wisely and lovingly, for the
well-being of ourselves and of others?

Do we treat well the animals the Lord has entrusted to us to lighten

our work or to be our companions?

Do we look upon our work as a mission of service to our families

and other people and as a form of cooperation and co-creation with
God our creator?

Have we cooperated with the creative Spirit for the renewal of the
face of the earth, not merely through technological progress, but
especially through the promotion of justice, love and service?

Are we actively concerned that the earth’s goods, spiritual as well

as material, become accessible to all?

Do we share from our abundance, and at times even from our

need, with people who suffer from want? As followers of the
crucified Lord, do we know how to sacrifice ourselves for the sake
of others?

Do we try to live, as the gospel asks us, frugally and thriftily,

without wasting goods or money? Are we disposed to help others
with that we save in this way?

Do we control our urge to have always more and more possessions

and power? Or do we show off what we have to impress others
and to compete with them?
4

Celebrant: Brothers and sisters,

our Lord Jesus Christ calls us
to be converted, that is,
to turn our backs to sin
and to turn to all tha is good.
Let the Lord’s Spirit lead you back
to the Lord, to people, to nature,
bring you forgiveness,
and give you the mentality of Christ.

Community Act of Sorrow

ALL : Lord, you treated people

and all of creation with infinite respect.
Forgive us for not following your ways:
Lord, have mercy.

Jesus Christ, our Lord,

you emptied yourself and accepted the cross.
Forgive us when we show off and abuse our power:
Christ, have mercy.

Lord, you rose from the dead

and lifted up those who had fallen.
Forgive us when we refuse to love and serve:
Lord, have mercy.

for all people and for the whole of your creation.

and to build up among us a hospitable world
in which people can live together
