Installation
Installation
At this point, you have already installed the DTIC software download from the SAP portal. Next, you
can start DTIC. See "Start-Up".
NOTE: If an older version of DTIC is installed on your computer, you do not need to uninstall or
delete it. However, it is strongly recommended that you use DTICv6.0 for all future changes.
If you have any issues regarding the installation of DTIC technical support is available at:
[email protected]
Start-Up
From your desktop, double click the DTIC.EXE icon, which opens the program and begins the
initialization process.
Initialization
After DTIC starts, it automatically attempts to establish a communication link with the following:
• Vehicle Manager on EASi2 orderpickers and reach trucks or the VFC on EASif Reach trucks
• Carriage Manager on the EASi2 or EASi Swing-Reach® truck or the Carriage Control Card on
an EASi orderpicker
NOTE: These are referred to as the "truck computer" for the remainder of this document.
If the link is successful, the PC contactor is de-energized (prevents truck movement) and the main
screen appears. The Connection Status at the bottom of the main screen displays the word
"ONLINE."
NOTE: If communications are properly established, the Start-up communications error time-out
screen does not appear.
Initialization
An example of the DTIC main screen appears below. This is only an example screen. The
information that appears on the screen varies from truck to truck.
The left side of the main screen contains basic information for the connected truck. The information
in this area varies from truck to truck. The right side of the screen contains the options available
and that are enabled on the truck.
Actions Tab
Actions Tab
Under the Actions tab is a list of options available in DTIC. The data on the screen is read-only
except for the Actions tab. Select this tab at the top of the main screen to open the drop-down list
with all the available features of DTIC.
Select “Actions” from the menu bar at the top of the screen. The options below appear in the
drop-down list:
• "Change Truck Options" on page 15 - Requires a passkey, which is provided by Raymond
Syracuse Parts Division.
• "Initialize Default Parameters" on page 17 - Resets the truck's superword and password back
to their original defaults.
• "Clear Primary Memory" on page 18 Erases the memory stored on the device containing the
primary memory.
• "Help" on page 20 - Includes basic DTIC information and troubleshooting.
Add a Passkey
Add a Passkey
Follow the steps to enter a new passkey:
1. Select the “Actions” tab.
2. Select Change Truck Options. The Enter Passkey text appears and the cursor blinks to indicate
that you can start typing the new passkey.
6. Select “OK.” Reverify and then retype the passkey, or contact Field Service.
7. Select the red X in the upper right corner of the message window at any point to exit the entry
process.
The message below appears after the truck's computer is successfully initialized to the factory
default values.
4. If the factory default parameters did not reset successfully, then the message below appears.
Contact Field Service.
5. Select “OK.”
After the Control Card has been cleared, it cannot be reprogrammed by DTIC.
If this option does not appear in the drop-down list, then it is not available for that particular truck.
The table below indicates which model trucks have what Primary Memory:
NOTE: Pay attention to the messages that appear on the screen. They include important
information as to what to do next.
6. Select “Yes” to clear the memory from the card installed in the truck. If the memory is
cleared successfully, the following message appears:
7. Select “OK.” DTIC closes automatically. Power down the truck and then remove the
cleared Primary Memory card.
Help
If the memory does not clear then the message below appears:
NOTE: If you exit before powering down the truck, then the truck performs a "self- healing" memory
check. In most trucks, this restores the memory to the card from secondary memory
storage. The clear state of the card is then lost.
9. Install the original Primary Memory card into the truck. Apply power to the truck.
10. Test the truck for proper operation.
11. The "cleared" Primary Memory is ready for use in other trucks.
Help
Select the Help option to open a PDF file to learn about DTIC, and to review troubleshooting
information.
If the Help PDF file is open then the Command Status below the Truck Options area reads “PDF has
been opened.”
NOTE: The Help files only opens if a PDF reader is installed on your PC.
Troubleshooting
Troubleshooting
Start Up Errors
The truck's computer expects communications of some sort from DTIC. Messages must continually
be sent to the truck computer within two minutes. This insures that proper communications are
maintained during the configuration process. This is necessary to maintain the truck’s Security
Status during communications.
If the truck's computer does not receive a valid DTIC command within the two minutes,
communications are terminated, and the truck security is returned to the normal operating mode.
If the communication link is not successful, the following error messages could appear and the
program will stop.
Error:
This message occurs if there is no initial connection to the truck or there is an abrupt
disconnection..
Resolution:
Verify that the drivers have been installed properly, and that the cable is connected. Re-key the
truck and then reopen DTIC.
Start Up Errors
Error:
The truck has not successfully communicated and has timed out with your PC.
Resolution:
Key OFF the truck. Wait five seconds. Key ON the truck, and then select “Yes” to retry.
Error:
COM Port has been initialized but there isn’t a truck connected, this message displays telling the
user the COM# that had timed out.
Miscellaneous Errors
Resolution:
Make sure in Windows Device Manager that your communication cable is listed under Ports (COM
& LPT)
Error:
This truck’s board was uninitialized/erased.
Resolution:
Contact the Parts Distribution Center.
Miscellaneous Errors
Error:
COMx is unavailable
Resolution:
Close any programs that may also be connected to the Com port. Only DTIC should be open when
reconfiguring the control card.
Error:
No .NET 4.0 or later version detected. Please Install Update.
Resolution:
Install .NET Framework 4.0 or after package from Microsoft Website.
