Endurance Test

The document outlines steps for conducting a test of drilling equipment including: 1) Preparing the test string and equipment, checking for leaks, and setting safety parameters. 2) Gradually increasing pumping rates, torque, and auxiliary equipment use over several hours to ramp equipment up to operating conditions. 3) Running the fully engaged system for 5 hours, making equipment swaps, and running for 5 more hours to complete the high load test while closely monitoring key parameters.

 Pick up and make up TDS test paddle on 5 ½” DSTJ 55 connection drill pipes to recommended

torque values.
 Space out test string to be at lest 10 ft off sea bed when blocks are at lower working point /
travel range.
 Check high pressure mud delivery line from pump room to St. Pipe Manifold  for loose
connections or any visual leaks, circulate sea water through with low pressure pump if required.
 Close St. pipe manifold main upper delivery valves to goose necks.
 Connect throttling / Lo Torque valve to side tie in connection to use for building up pressure.
 Make sure TDS wash pipe is removed to avoid running with no lubrication and burn out the
seals
 Connect chiksan loops to over board.
 Set mud pump pop-off valves to 5500 psi.
 Fill in two active tanks to be used for pumping during the test.
 None active tanks to be all half full to operate transfer pumps during the test.
 Fill in sand traps and settling tanks and check for visual leaks.
 Worm up solid control equipment and strafer pumps and make sure of their readiness to
operate.
 Dress shakers with any size off screens.
 Circulate through return ditches and check for visual leaks and fix if any.
 Double check on rig main equipment (TDS, M/P, DW) auxiliary equipment and safety alarms and
make sure all working properly and no error messages showing on the Amphion HMI screens.
 Start endurance test procedure as following:
1. No Load Check Run
o Put 4 gen-sets online
o Start TDS slowly on 15 RPM
o Check TDS and DRK for any drops or lose connections or abnormal vibration.
o Run two mud pumps through Hi pressure line to the over board line on 25 / 25 SPM
o Check and record pressure / torque / power use percentage.
o Rig maintenance crew to check main equipment for lubrication and instrumentation
readings.
o Check equipment alarms on HMI and make sure no error messages is showing on the
screens.
o Record engines temperatures and main power use percentage.
o If all ok continue for one hour until comfortable power house and equipment are on
steady state.

1. Main Equipment Parameters ramping up
o Increase pumping rate gradually while monitoring pumps for any leaks and auxiliary
functions until reach 95 / 95 SPM
o Do not throttle flow or create any extra pressure.
o Record normal pump pressure and power use percentage.
o Increase TDS RPM gradually until reaching 30 K ft.lb torque while monitoring Amp’s on
HMI screen.
o Observe TDS for any oil leaks or abnormal vibration
o Record bearing temperature and lubrication oil pressure, make sure they are on normal
ranges.
o Continue for an hour, monitor and record engines temperature and power use.
o Engage rig auxiliary equipment gradually as following:
 Start shakers.
 Start solid control equipment
 Start mixing pumps and transfer between mud tanks
 Start agitators on all mud tanks
o Record power use and engines temperatures
o Throttle M/P flow by closing the Lo torque valve on St. Pipe Manifold gradually until
pressure reaches 2500 psi, monitor lines for leaks.
o Record power use and engines temperatures
o Check and record M/P bearing temperature and motor Amps use.
o Continue for one hour.
1. High Load Stage
o Upon the success of the above two stages and rectifying any finding start below steps.
o Slow down parameters
o Disengage one gen-set and put only 3 gen-sets online.
o Run 2 mud pumps on 55 / 55 SPM
o Run TDS until reaching 30 K ft.lb torque.
o Put all auxiliary equipment online as mentioned in stage 2
o Start throttling M/P flow (gradually while close monitoring) until reaching 5000 psi
pressure or 80% power use on engines, take your time and do not rush in to reaching
the required parameters.
o In case of any doubt on any equipment, stop evaluate then restart.
o If all OK continue for 5 hours.
o Stop and switch M/P’s and change gen-sets arrangement.
o Repeat above steps with same sequence for 5 more hours.
o If all OK terminate the test and conclude the results.

Below parameters to be monitored at all times and recorded every 30 minutes:
 Engine temperatures
 Rig power use in KW and percentage
 M/P pressure / SPM’s / motors Amp’s
 TDS  RPM / bearing temp / motor Amp’s
 Record any finding and rectifications performed
