Hello Ms Trang, my name is Chieu. Let me tell you about unit 9A.

I have summarize
this unit and split it into 3 parts. Part 1 is grammar, part 2 is pronunciation and part 3 is
Vocab
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.Grammar ( third conditional )
- First and second conditional sentences has already been learned in previous unit, and
this time is for the third conditional sentence
- It not hard if we use this structure to write a third conditional sentence:
- If + S + had + Vpp, S + would/could/ should + have + Vpp
Ex: If I had known about the meeting, I would have gone.
You wouldn’t have lost your job if you hadn’t been late every day.
Would you have gone to the party if you hadn’t known Lisa was there?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Here are few notes for this:
- First of all : We usually use third conditional sentences to talk about
how things could have been different in the past for hypothetical/ imaginary
situations
Ex: Yesterday I got up late and missed my train ( the real situation )
If hadn’t got up late yesterday, I wouldn’t have missed my train ( the
hypothetical past situation)
- Next: we can use might or could instead of would to make the result less certain.
- Last one: the contraction of both had and would is 'd
Here is an example: He’d = He had; I’d = I would
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Pronunciation
In this section, I learned how to find a keyword in a sentence. For example: ( mở file
nghe câu 1 )
- If I’d KNOWN you were SICK, I would have COME to SEE you
Foreigners when speaking, they emphasize important word. In the last example, we
heard some words clearly like: (known, sick, come, see), that’s sound like keyword, so
we can guess the meaning of a sentence.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
