1. Introduction

A collection of Microsoft-created operating systems known as Windows Server, which

enables enterprise-level management, data storage, applications, and communications.
Prior iterations of Windows Server have prioritized file system enhancements, networking,
stability, security, and networking. The ninth iteration of Microsoft's Windows Server
operating system, which is a member of the Windows NT family of operating systems, is
called Windows Server 2019. After Windows Server 2016, it is the second iteration of the
server operating system built on the Windows 10 platform.

VirtualBox is open-source software for virtualizing the x86 computing architecture. It

performs the role of a hypervisor, building a VM (virtual machine) where the user can use
another operating system (operating system). It enables users to expand their current
computer's ability to run multiple operating systems simultaneously, such as Microsoft
Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, and Oracle Solaris.

2. Objective

The main objective of this report is to install Windows Server 2019 inside of a virtual
machine, describe and learn about the various installation processes, and find and fix any
issues that can arise. As well as another purpose of this study is to learn about virtual
boxes and how to upgrade an existing computer so that it may run various operating
systems simultaneously, such as Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, and Oracle
Solaris.

3. Scopes

Users can leverage several highly useful features by running Windows Server on a virtual
machine. The scopes of Windows Server in Virtual Box are defined in the following points:

• Multigeneration branched snapshots

• Remote machine display
• Portability
• No hardware virtualization required
• Guest Additions: shared folders, seamless windows and 3D virtualization
• It also provides great hardware support

Additionally, there are numerous capabilities that offer advanced assistance to learners
and users of low-end devices. These features also address issues with reinstalling
operating systems, which is especially helpful when using different operating systems on
a single device.

4. Required Tools and Concepts

Tools are the programs or platforms that virtualize any utility or program that aids in the
development of applications or in the upkeep of computers by users or programmers. I
have used Vmware as the tool. Vmware is a set of services and modules that enable a
number of capabilities in VMware products for improved management of, and smoother
user interactions with, guests operating systems as well as for passing messages from
the host operating system to the guest operating system.

Before starting, you should comprehend the following two concepts:

• Host Operating System – The host operating system is software on a computer

that works with the underlying hardware. The host operating system is the main
operating system used to boot up the computer. The term is typically used when
differentiating from the guest operating system used in a virtualized server. A

single physical server can be divided into several virtual machines via
virtualization. Virtual machines are isolated pieces of hardware with lots of
processor, memory, storage, and network capability. When dividing resources
between the host OS and the guest OS, virtualization is less expensive and more
effective.
• Guest Operating System - A guest operating system is an operating system (OS)
that is secondary to the OS originally installed on a computer. The guest operating
system is the OS that the Virtual Machine will run. The guest OS is either part of a
partitioned system or part of a virtual machine (VM) setup. A guest OS provides
an alternative OS for a device.

5. Steps

The Steps for instilling windows server 2019 into virtual box with its screenshots are:

5.1 Creating virtual Machine

Selecting downloaded window server 2019 to load into Vmware as new Virtual Machine.

6. Conclusion

I have successfully installed Windows Server 2019 in this report. I had several challenges
during this procedure, but they were simple to overcome with the tutor's assistance and
the tutorial slides. The project has taught me a lot about how to use virtual box, including
its procedures, benefits, and drawbacks. Because of my newfound confidence, I can now
install any OS and work on that is compatible with it. So, I'm hoping it will be useful to me
in my future work in the operating industry.
