Words of Thanks
Words of Thanks
and my classmates!
I am Kyi Kyi Zin, a lecturer from Sagaing University. As a participant and a
representative of my class, I feel blessed and privileged to have this opportunity to express my
gratitude on this occasion. First, I would like to convey my sincere thanks to Ms. Felicia Low,
Second Secretary from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Singapore, the Myanmar Ministry of
Education, and of course, RELC for allowing us to attend this course.
Secondly, my abundant thanks go to Dr. Marie and Dr. Joel for your very interesting,
engaging, and interactive training. Even though the course was conducted virtually, we were
quite active and interactive in the classroom. I would like to thank Dr. Marie who introduced us
to the Four Strands Principle which is valuable for managing innovations in our language
classes. Now, we realize how to reflect on the approaches and activities in teaching vocabulary,
grammar, listening, speaking, reading, and writing by using the Four Strands Principle.
Thank you, Dr. Marie, for teaching us how to identify different aspects of vocabulary
knowledge and applying the approaches and activities for developing learners’ vocabulary. You
also shared how to add some activities and questions to focus on the appropriate use of grammar
with us. The grammar teaching techniques you gave us are very useful for us and we had a clear
understanding of how to use them as you let us practice them by ourselves during the training.
Because of you, we became to know how to do the “Dictogloss” activity which we could apply
in our micro-teaching in listening as well. Thank you for helping us to improve our speaking
skills by letting us practice different activities to develop accuracy and fluency.
In addition, I also would like to acknowledge our gratitude to Dr. Joel for your
informative lectures. It can’t be denied that your lessons are very informative, including the
strategies, skills, and activities that we need to keep in mind in teaching reading and writing.
Thank you so much, Dr. Joel.
I would like to say thank you to Dr. Marie for introducing us to the curriculum designs
and implementation that are not quite familiar to us. I believe that the knowledge that you gave
us will help us to become efficient in teaching, to be able to be analytical of prescribed textbooks
and to be able to select the most suitable materials for our students.
I am extremely thankful that both Dr. Marie and Dr. Joel shared the most useful online
learning tools and websites that can enhance our teaching-learning process and self-development.
Without you, it wouldn’t be easy for us to find out those tools. We promise we will make use of
those websites and tools.
Thank you, Dr. Marie, and Dr. Joel, for understanding our difficulties, preparing the
lessons to meet our needs, and being supportive throughout the course. Your kindness, patience,
care, and teaching styles will always be in our hearts.
Last but not the least, I want to thank you, my fellow course participants, for actively
participating in discussions, group work, and micro-teaching, for sharing inspiring ideas, and for
helping each other. This course gave us a chance to meet and share our experiences with teachers
from different parts of Myanmar.
Once again, I would like to state that we are very grateful to everyone from RELC and
the Ministry of Education, Myanmar, who give an effort in conducting the course. It has been a
great pleasure for all of us to attend this course.
