COMPUTER SCIENCE DEPARTMENT
END OF QUARTER REPORT AS AT 22nd / December / 2021

Introduction:
Computer science department is greatful to management for the great support this quarter and
looks forward to the same next quarter. This report highlights the departmental activities,
achievements, challenges and their wayforward for better service delivery to our clients.

Activities:
 Teaching
Both Online and Physical teaching progressed well. Syllabus was largely completed
which well prepared students for exams.
 Tests – Freshers:
These mid quarter tests for freshers were successfuy conducted alongside the final
examinations for continuing students.
 Examinations
Successfully conducted on Thursday 16th, Saturday 18th, And Tuesday 21st / Dec/ 2021.
 Students assembly:
Held on Saturday 20th/November/2021 in ICT Lab. Wide range of items were discussed
like, Discipline, Retakes/special papers, Exams, Covid 19 Vaccination, Course outlines
among other issues
 Syllabus completion review exercise:
Held on Thursday 2nd/dec/2021 using QA Syllabus Completion Assessment forms and
established that all courseunts were adequately covered. These forms of raw facts were
submitted to the QA Office.
 Internship:
A total of 18 Internees (From the time of writing this report) got placements and are
pending supervision.

Achievements:
 Students Assembly - Saturday 20th/November/2021
 Successfully handled URA Online assessment Exercise that came with demands which
in-turn boosted our computer labs with repairs, new machines etc
 Installed curtains in ICT and Pentagon Labs among others.
 Signed 2 MOUs so far.
 Syllabus Completion in a much tight schedule as witnessed by QA Syllabus Completion
assessment forms of 2nd/dec/2021
 Attained a blower.
Challenges:
 Failed Career talk which was scheduled for Saturday 11 th/Dec/2021 as a result of limited
funds.
 Cisco lab still lacks a printer.
 Projector: Secretarial lab – one of the best computer labs is yet to acquire a projector.
 AC(s) in ICT lab which is so uncomfortable especially in the afternoons.
 Lecturers who reschedule their timetables with students make our trucking and follow-
ups hard.
 Stationery: Our request for stationery (File Folders, Stepple wires, office pins,
Highlighters, pens) is yet to be granted.

Wayfoward:
 Procuring AC for ICT lab, Printer for Cisco lab, and projector for secretarial lab would
help a great deal.
 Human resource gap as revealed by the timetable for Jan to April / 2022
 Office stationery a prerequisite
 Newtworking tools like RJ45s and creep tools(2)

Future plans:
 Online lessons via zoom AND Googe Meet
 Introduction of short courses in the department as presented to the registrar pending
approval.
