Festivities in Colombia
As many other Latin American countries, Colombia celebrates the passion of
living. Our culture is crossed by the Spanish inheritance, combined with African
and original inhabitants from Colombia’s extensive territory own customs. To
understand why we celebrate more than 20 holidays [about 20 long weekends
a year] we also need to know the diverse geography of the country; Colombia
is divided into 5 regions and 32 departments, equivalent to what provinces
mean to Canada. This natural division originated different festivals, carnivals
and popular celebrations, some of them local and some others, national.
Here are some special dates in which we celebrate in Colombia:
•San Juan & San Pedro (1st)
•Independence day (20th)

September month.
