Senior Engineer, System Engineering Performance

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS
Studies & Analysis
Develop and recommend tools to capture, collect, and produce
analytical data allowing to profile system performance in term of
key performance indicators with business impact
Based on performance analysis, propose system changes
improving performance of SES client’s systems
Define, secure and prepare datasets for statistical modelling with
the support of SES Operations
Incorporate findings and provide industry and competitor insights
as part of model development and enhancement
Propose new developments and enhancements to the SES
software suite to assist with modelling and analysis of customers
systems
Mobility Platform Optimization
Propose development that will allow system improvement and
unlocking of Mbps in the Shared Capacity system
Respond to Sales and Sales Engineering requests by running
parallel simulations to optimize the capabilities of Shared Capacity
System
Work with operations to forecast and mitigate potential issues
Refine the itinerary tool so that Shared Capacity System can
better forecast real world problems
Propose enhancements to the Shared Capacity System simulator
that will meet the needs of NOC, OEs, SOC, Asset Management,
Systems Engineering and Sales Engineering
Work with our NOC to publish reports on the system to trouble
tickets and improve NOC ticket system tagging. Use these reports
to drive improvements in SCS (BUC RMAs, file system
enhancements, database redundancy, Betz failover site, etc.)
Work on additional systems and performance tasks as needed
Demonstrations/Exercises/Rehearsals
Plan, prepare, execute, and/or evaluate operational
demonstrations, exercises, and rehearsals to demonstrate system
performance and operational readiness
Write and maintain a list of actions which can be implemented to
increase the operational awareness and operational efficiency
Operations
Support Network and Operations when investigating complex
problems related to the SES systems
SME for Operations on SES software related platforms
Proactively audit and report customer network performances at
regular intervals to ensure compliance to the SLA and up-to-date
configuration status including Gateway, Terminal, software,
resources, IP, maintenance and sparing
Liaise with Operations and Sales Engineering to confirm proper
and optimal configuration of each user service considering
customer experience and SES resources
Other Responsibilities
Provide technical support for sales
Provide technical briefings to key customers
Work with Sales and customers to determine how to most
effectively utilize the system
Represent SES technology at industry events and with media
Contingency Planning
Identify O3b system contingencies and develop mitigation
plans/strategies to minimize customer impacts and maximize
restored service capacity
Training
Provide system overview training for new employees, when
requested
Assist with the development of SOC and NOC training, as
required
Instill high quality standards offered through SES’s portfolio of
services and coach other technical team members in their skills
development
 
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
University or engineering degree (e.g. FH, TH, IST, BSc, MSc) in
telecommunications or related field
At least 10 year of professional experience or equivalent in relevant
field
In-Depth knowledge of Telecommunications Satellite Systems
including VSAT systems
Expert working knowledge of satellite and RF systems, SATCOM
Baseband, satellite ground-based antennas, Network Management,
and Modem systems equipment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Fluency in English, any other regional language being an asset
Sound analytical skills, critical task/tactical related decision-making
skills 
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, an ability to work
effectively in a global, high multicultural team
Willingness to travel up to 20% of the working time
