Guidelines for Summer Internship Report 2022

SIP Report Structure


Executive Summary
(Expected length – about 3-4 pages)

Chapter 1: The Area of Internship and Learning Objectives


(Expected length - about 5 pages. The chapter would contain description of the specific field
chosen for training like ‘Recruitment and Selection Procedure at ABC Corporation’. It may
also contain a brief review of relevant literature as a background.  It will further lay down the
learning objectives which would also serve as the expected learning outcome of the internship).

Chapter 2: Profile of the Organization


(Expected length - about 5 pages.  It may contain a structured introduction or description of the
organization. It may include its vision, mission, organizational structure, product lines,
competitive position in the market, financial and profitability position, HR systems, current
challenges and future prospects. Its functional profile relating to the chosen area of internship
should be specially highlighted.)

Chapter 3: Job Description and Functional Profile


(Expected length- 4 pages. You may include your job or functional profile along with the
responsibilities assigned as intern. It may also include your reporting relationships, work
environment and job challenges, if any, at the organization).

Chapter 4: Learning Experience and the Insights Gained


(Expected length – about 10-20 pages).  This is the central part of the internship report. It may be
divided into three parts.  Part I  may be devoted to the business processes learned and insights
gained; Part II may contain your analysis or evaluation of the business process on which you
have worked, followed by the identification of the improvement areas; and Part III  may describe
the professional  skills acquired. In those cases where an intern is assigned a field survey work or
a research exercise, the results of such survey or research along with the research design and
methodology would also need to be given in brief in part II.)

Chapter 5:  Recommendations and Conclusion


(Approximate length - 5 pages. This chapter may provide your suggestions and recommendations
with regard to the processes learned or the survey/research conducted. It may also include the
conditions under which your recommendations would be feasible or effective.)

The total length of the report should not exceed 60 pages (including annexures, if any).
Other guidelines relating to internship remain the same. The final internship report must follow
the above guidelines. Each student will make three copies of project report in the prescribed
format.
First copy (with original documents along with a copy of the project report in CD) is to be
submitted to the respective faculty mentor on or before 21st July 2022 (tentative date)(the faculty
mentor would then submit these reports after SIP presentations to the SIP Coordinator Dr Ranjit
Kaur), Second copy to the organization where the student has done his or her summer internship
(if required), third copy is to be kept with the student for future reference.

Typing Instructions:
 Margins Top =1inch, Left = 1.5 inch, Right = 1 inch, Bottom=1 inch.
 Title- 16, Caps and Upper Case, Bold, Centered, 3 lines space.
 First Level Heading-14, Caps and Upper Case, Bold, Centered, 1.5 lines space.
 Second Level Heading-12, Caps and Lower Case, Bold, Left, 1.5 lines space.
 Third Level Heading-12, Caps and Lower Case, Bold, Same line.
 Between words: 1 space
 After a colon or semi colon: 2 spaces
 After a comma: 1 space
 After a full stop: 2 spaces

Evaluation Scheme

Maximum Marks for Summer Internship is 200 with breakup as follows:


 Summer Training Report = 100 Marks
 Industry Feedback +Faculty Feedback = 50 Marks
 Presentation followed by Q & A = 50 Marks

All the students are required to give a presentation in front of the allocated panel of about 8-10
minutes on their Summer Internship Work, which would be followed by a questions answers
round by the appointed panel. The schedule of your presentations would be communicated to you
in July 2022.
How To Write Bibliography

Books

Author (s) eg. If Author name is Stephen Robbins, then it will be written as Robbins, Stephen.

All the students are required to follow the following instructions:

 The size of the report would depend on the project undertaken. However it must follow
the guidelines issued, typed pages (1.5 space) on A4 size paper. All the students are
required to use Times New Roman font with font size 12 in the text.

 If any material in the report is picked up from any source and the source name is not
referred in the bibliography section, it will be treated as a case of plagiarism /cheating.
Permissible limit for plagiarism is 15%. 10 marks will be deducted if the similarity
index is found more than 15% in the first evaluation. If the similarity index is found
more than 15% in the reevaluation, the student will have to redo the SIP (in a
different organization next year).
Certificates to be included in the report

The project report must accompany two certificates, one from Corporate Mentor and another
from the student himself/herself which is to be countersigned by the faculty Mentor
authenticating the originality of the work done in the prescribed format as indicated below:
