Introduction
Online classes are usually self-paced, allowing you to learn on your own time and
schedule and enable you more flexibility in completing specific tasks. An online class on
s is a type of class that takes place over the internet. Online learning moreover has its
claim set of both positives and negatives. Online classes can regularly be more cost-
effective than traditional classes and can be done at a pace the understudy is comfortable
with. This COVID 19 has effectively constrained the worldwide shutdown of a few
exercises, counting instructive activities; this has come about in students’ massive crisis-
According to Lee and Haggerty (2020), parents have had to make significant
changes in our current situation due to the extreme pandemic, especially in their
children's online learning mode. It also had a substantial impact on their financial
expenditure. This will also provide a contrast and comparison of the expenses of public
and private senior high schools. Given the rising number of cases, President Rodrigo
Duterte has previously stated that face-to-face classes are not a choice until a vaccine is

This research will inform and contribute to our understanding of how to handle the
financial expenditures of parents. The researchers chose this subject because we believe
it will benefit parents, students, and future researchers. In addition, since researchers are
in the midst of a crisis, this will aid in understanding others. We also would like to know
the parents’ opinions regarding online class expenses and their learning mode for their
child/children.
This Research Study is about “The Parents’ Financial Dilemma with Online
Classes.” This study aims to assess how much our parents spend on our online
schooling and determine what is more pricey regarding online education, whether it is

Theoretical Framework
We chose the "Collective Labor Supply and Child Care Expenditure" theory stated
by Chris Van Klaveren and Joris Ghysels to educate parents about the subject we've
chosen. In this theory, we can get more strategies to support our study, especially now
that the pandemic has changed many parents' lives regarding their children's educational
expenditures. This theory is also critical because some schools purchase books for the
learners, but they are not using all the supplies. We should address this matter since not
all parents can afford to buy, and not all students are privileged to continue their

The coronavirus pandemic has had a negative financial effect on both the country
and its citizens. Even before the advent of distance learning or online classes, most
parents did not have a fully prepared workspace for their children. Furthermore, it is
expected that approximately 9 million children will lack household internet connectivity
by April 2020. Moreover, many learners lacked access to the technology needed to

The economic impact of the COVID-19 epidemic affects the health and well-
being of families across the country, according to Karpaman, Gonzales, and Kenney

found that more than half of the parents with children 17 or younger who responded are
facing additional financial hardships due to the pandemic, including increased expenses
for child care, food and the technology needed for distance learning.
Many are also dealing with the loss of a job as a result of having to stay home and care
for children, or the impact of reduced or shifting hours over child care needs.

Other respondents stated that we should take good care of ourselves so that we will not
have to increase the expenses if someone in their household becomes unwell, and that
we must learn how to save and budget money since that is where we learn how to
manage money. According to Karpaman, Gonzales, and Kenney (2020) it can be read
that parents have difficulty budgeting money because some people are losing their
families due to the pandemic and due to rising commodity prices, house payments,

The emerging themes are “Safety Purposes” which refers to the safety of their
child/children of not getting the virus, “Effectiveness” which refers to the effectiveness
of online class and face-to-face classes to which online class seems less effective and
favors the teaching style of face-to-face classes, “Protection and Maturation” which
refers to not agreeing to online class and prefers face-to-face class once the pandemic is

TRANSCRIPTION OF DATA
2 P1 Hi be kilala kita
11 R4 Does the online class have the exact school requirements like
face-to-face, wherein additional expenses you need to pay?
29 P1 Welcome beh.
4 P2 Ah cge po
6 P2 Welcome po
9 P2 Cge neng
15 P2 Accessible sya.
In terms of affordable hindi ko masagot since nsa public
schools ang estudyante ko
But in shs at colleges online class is more affordable
depending on school enrolment fees.
Kc kung online class in terms of expenditures mabawasan ang
gastos like un uupa ng dorms, some projects during online
class eliminated na.
31 P2 No
32 R4 Bakit po?
44 R4 Thank you po!!
our research!!
45 P2 Welcome!
na lang tayo [laugh] __ to your parents too. This will help a
lot, yes totoo.
NAME OF SCHOOL
33 R1 Opo
39 R3 Hindi po [laugh]
41 So after class?
Ayun yung observation
ko sa estudyante ko [laugh]
46 R2 Online po.
48 R1 Opo
50 R3 Face to face po
53 And also po yung stress talaga. Kasi yung iba pong teacher
NAME OF SCHOOL
20 P4 Nakaka..?
NAME OF SCHOOL
computer, laging may meeting [laugh] at tska minsan, yung nalalate
39 R2 So with that po, thank you po sa time niyo po.
So, thank you po and Godbless po! Stay safe
po!
46 P4 Bye-bye.
8 R2 Okay po
face-to-face?
At
panahon natin diba.
28 P5 Ahh… ano…___ yung… yung kailangan magtipid tayo. Ayun ang solusyon,
magtipid. Dapat marunong tayo magbudget.
34 P5 Pagsiguro pag online pa rin siguro. Pero kapag ready na mag face-to-face edi
face-to-face.
to face kasi ano eh… yung iba talagang face to face ang ____ sa online class
diba. Oo, mas maganda talaga ang face to face kesa sa online class.
37 R2 Ah okay po.
38 P5 Pag face to face mas madaming matututunan yung mga bata. Kasi iba talaga
NAME OF SCHOOL
42 R1 Thank you po
