28. Points P, Q, R and S in order are dividing the line segment joining the points 3

29. A vessel is in the form of a hemispherical bowl mounted by a hollow cylinder. The 3
diameter of the hemisphere is x cm and the total height of the vessel is 13 cm. Find
the value of x if the surface area of the vessel is 572 cm².
OR
A solid wooden toy is in the form of a hemisphere surmounted by a cone of same
radius. The radius of the hemisphere is 3.5 cm and the total wood used in the

making of toy is 166 𝑐𝑚3 . Find the height of the toy.

31. A man invested an amount of ₹ x at 10% per annum and another amount of ₹ y at 3
8% per annum simple interest. Thus, he received ₹1350 as annual interest. Had he
interchanged the amounts invested, he would have received ₹45 less as interest.
What amounts did he invest at different rates?

Section D consists of 4 questions of 5 marks each
32. Two ships are approaching a lighthouse from opposite directions. The angles of 5
depression of the two ships from the top of a lighthouse are 30° and 45°. If the
distance between the two ships is 100 metres, find the height of the lighthouse.
(Use √3 = 1.732)
OR
The angles of depression of the top and the bottom of a 10 m tall building from the
top of a multi-storeyed building are 30° and 45°, respectively. Find the height of
the multi-storeyed building and the distance between the two buildings.

The hypotenuse of a right-angled triangle is 14 cm more than three times the shortest 5
side. If the third side is 1 cm less than the hypotenuse, find the sides of the triangle.
OR
Sum of the areas of two squares is 962 m². If the difference of their perimeters is 72 m,
then find the sides of the two squares.

Case study-based questions are compulsory.
36. A mint moulds four types of copper coins A, B, C and D whose diameters vary
uniformly. The first coin A has a diameter of 0.7 cm. The second coin B has
double the diameter of coin A and from then onwards the diameters increase by
50%. Thickness of each coin is 0.25 cm.

38. A residential society has a triangular park with sides AB = 60m, BC = 75 m and
AC = 80 m. A path for walking is constructed inside the park (see figure). If
PQ||AB and PR||AC, then based on the above information answer the following
questions:
