LT6654

Precision Wide
Supply High Output Drive
Low Noise Reference
FEATURES DESCRIPTION
n Low Drift: The LT®6654 is a family of small precision voltage ref-
n A-Grade: 10ppm/°C Max erences that offers high accuracy, low noise, low drift,
n B-Grade: 20ppm/°C Max low dropout and low power. The LT6654 operates from
n High Accuracy: voltages up to 36V and is fully specified from –55°C to
n A-Grade: ±0.05% Max 125°C. A buffered output ensures ±10mA of output drive
n B-Grade: ±0.10% Max with low output impedance and precise load regulation.
n Low Noise: 1.6ppm
P-P (0.1Hz to 10Hz) These features, in combination, make the LT6654 ideal
n Wide Supply Range to 36V for portable equipment, industrial sensing and control,
n Low Thermal Hysteresis: LS8 15ppm (–40°C to 125°C) and automotive applications.
n Long Term Drift: (LS8) 15ppm/√kHr
n Line Regulation (Up to 36V): 5ppm/V Max
The LT6654 was designed with advanced manufactur-
n Low Dropout Voltage: 100mV Max
ing techniques and curvature compensation to provide
n Sinks and Sources ±10mA
10ppm/°C temperature drift and 0.05% initial accuracy.
n Load Regulation at 10mA: 8ppm/mA Max
Low thermal hysteresis ensures high accuracy and
n Fully Specified from –55°C to 125°C
1.6ppmP-P noise minimizes measurement uncertainty.
n Available Output Voltage Options: 1.25V, 2.048V,
Since the LT6654 can also sink current, it can operate
as a low power negative voltage reference with the same
2.5V, 3V, 3.3V, 4.096V, 5V
n Low Profile (1mm) ThinSOT™ Package and 5mm ×
precision as a positive reference.
5mm Surface Mount Hermetic Package The LT6654 references are offered in 6-lead SOT-23
n AEC-Q100 Qualified for Automotive Applications package and an 8-lead LS8 package. The LS8 is a 5mm
× 5mm surface mount hermetic package that provides
APPLICATIONS outstanding stability.

LT6654
APPLICATIONS INFORMATION
Bypass and Load Capacitors
The LT6654 voltage references should have an input by-
pass capacitor of 0.1µF or larger, however the bypassing VIN
on other components nearby is sufficient. In high voltage 1V/DIV

applications, VIN > 30V, an output short-circuit to ground GND

can create an input voltage transient that could exceed the

maximum input voltage rating. To prevent this worst-case VOUT
1V/DIV
condition, an RC input line filter of 10µs (i.e. 10Ω and 1µF) GND
is recommended. These references also require an output
capacitor for stability. The optimum output capacitance for 20µs/DIV

less than its maximum power output. Care must be taken

The LT6654 includes output current limit circuitry, as well 30

as thermal limit circuitry, to protect the reference from

damage in the event of excessive power dissipation. The 20

result of operation at high temperature.
