1. Name the different curriculum design.

  Briefly explain each design.

Subject Centered Curriculum Design – revolves around a particular subject matter


discipline. It is the most popular among the four types of curriculum design. Describes
what the students’ needs to study and how it should be study. It corresponds mostly
in textbook because textbooks are usually written based the specific subject or
course.

Learner Centered Design –this design center the learner in the education process,
puts emphasis on elementary level, however more concern has been placed on the
secondary in the content in college center in discipline. But both levels still recognize
the importance of the learner in the curriculum. This design takes each learners
individual needs, interest and goals into consideration.

Problem Centered Design – this design focus on understanding and finding solution
to individual and social issues and problems. It requires students to use skills and
knowledge of different subjects and disciplines as they engage themselves in a
meaningful of various social and individual problems.

Core Learning Design – this curriculum design focus more on learning a set of
common subject’s discipline courses skills of knowledge that are necessary for
students to master or to learn.

2. Write the benefits and possible pitfalls of subject design and integrated
design. 

 Easy to deliver for teachers and the teachers are familiar with the format
 Taught only the general knowledge without integrating or focusing deeply or
learning deeply the said subject.
 Students worked collaboratively.
 Multiage teams formed within the multiage classes.
 Students used a wide range of presentation products, such as video, debate,
sculpture, and so on.
3. Identify the benefits of having a learner-centered curriculum

 students learn to solve problems, answer questions, and formulate questions of


their own
 students work in teams to solve problems and accomplish goals
 presentation skill
 It makes students feel appreciated which causes them to retain more information
 It gives students control over what and how the teacher teaches which allows
them to be self-centered
 It helps students retain more information and have a high rate of leaning and
motivation

4.Discuss the issues and the benefits related to the implementation of problem
centered designs. 

5. Examine the K-12 curriculum and identify the core standards and
competencies that are required for all students to know and do.

 Learning How to Learn.


 Creativity.
 Digital Literacy/Programming.
 Curating information.
 Being entrepreneurial.
 Being a group facilitator.
 Staying up-to-date.

6. Analyze the national curriculum standards of other countries in basic


education. Countries like Australia, UK, japan and Singapore have a national
core curriculum that is implemented in their entire educational system.
( Choose only one country to analyze). You can compare and contrast or simply
do analyses in their basic educational system.
Australia has a national curriculum, the Australian Curriculum, which provides
schools, teachers, parents, students, and the community with a clear understanding
of what students should learn, regardless of where they live or what school system
they are in.
