B. MOTIVATION
Let’s organize the data that we have in Crill and Review parts
Assume that you have 50 pupils in your class

CAT IIII-IIII-IIII-II 17
Dogs IIII-IIII-IIII-IIII-IIII 25
Other IIII- III 8

Guide Questions
1. How many pupils have a cat pet in their house?
2. How many pupils have a dog pet in their house?
3. How many pupils have a pet that is not a cat or dog?
4. How many more pupils have a pet dog than a pet cat?

Ask those pupils under Other category what kind of pet do they have.

C. PRESENTATION

1. Present the problem posted in the Engage part and give pupils enough time to analyze the given
data
Age of Pupils in the Taekwondo Class

14 15 18 16 13 15 16 17 16
15 18 17 14 16 13 16 17 19

2. Organize the given data using a table to make it easier to understand. See Explore, page 318.

Age Number of Students

19 1
18 2
17 3
16 5
15 3
14 2
13 2
TOTAL 18

3. Ask the following questions and let the pupils answer each individually.
a. How many teenagers were attending Taekwondo classes? (18 pupils)
b. What is the age of the oldest member of the Taekwondo class? (19 years old)
c. What is the age of the youngest member of the Taekwondo class? (13 years old)
d. What is the age of majority of the pupils? (16 years old)
e. How many pupils has greater than 15? (11 pupils)

4. Introduce to the class the frequency table. Provide more examples. Use the examples in Explain
part and let the pupils answer it individually or in pairs.

Example:

By the end of the intramural’s basketball tournament, Grade 6- F. Sionil Jose’s players had
scored the following points: 19, 66, 32, 18, 79, 49, 46, 60, 39
What was the lowest score? What was the best score?

D. DEEPENING
A. Let us study and work on other examples.
1. A survey was taken on a town A. In each of 20 houses, people were asked how many cars were
registered to them. The results were recorded as follows:
0, 1, 2, 1, 0,3, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 0, 2, 3
Make a frequency table to present this data.

2. At a recent volleyball tournament, all 10 of the participants had to fill out a form that gave their
names, address and age. The ages of the participants were as follows:

25, 35, 30, 43, 25, 26, 35, 30, 43, 25

Make a table of frequency to present this data.
B. What is data?
What steps will you do to make a frequency table?

E. GENERALIZATION

1. What is a frequency table?

2. How do you make a frequency table
