Abstraction:
Flexibility is shown when you can easily bend,
stretch, and reach over.
Aerobic fitness or cardiovascular endurance
shows when you can do exercises with less
fatigue. Muscular endurance is your ability to
exert force repeatedly or for an extended period
of time. Muscular strength expresses the
maximum amount of force that you can exert
against a resistance. Physical fitness is
measured in five aspects: cardiovascular
endurance, muscular endurance, muscular
strength, flexibility and body composition.
Body composition shows the percentages of fat,
bone, water and muscle in the body. There are
also six skill-related components: speed, power,
agility, balance, coordination and reaction time.
To develop these components of fitness, you
must participate in the suggested activities of the
Philippine Physical Activity Pyramid. You
should not forget that healthy living. Thus,
eating nutritious food, sleeping adequately, and
monitoring an active life is healthy living. The
Philippine Physical Activity Pyramid helps kids
like you to be active through its suggested day-
to-day activities. The activities are made of
aerobic exercises, recreational activities, leisure
activities, and strength and flexibility exercises.
At the bottom of the pyramid, which is the
biggest part, is the day-to-day activities that you
should do. Taking the starirs, walking
frequently, and doing household chores are some
of the recreational activitites, should be done
regularly. The top portion of the pyramid shows
activitites that are suggested to be done
minimally or once a month. Sitting or watching
television does not involve a lot of moving and
does not burn many calories. However, you still
need time to realax.
