CHAPTER II

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND RELATED STUDY

This chapters contains related literatures and studies that helped the researchers in evaluating and

familiarizing information.

RELATED LITERATURE / RELATED STUDY

A. Foreign Literature

“Performance Improvement of Inventory Management System Processes by an

Automated Warehouse Management System”, (Elsevier B.V., 2016). The study looks into the

impact of a warehouse management system on supply chain performance, with the goal of

providing a less resource-intensive, more efficient, and dependable inventory management

system. Before customizing a software that can handle the necessary transactions, the supply

chain procedures carried out in the warehouse were reviewed. The software was tested for its

ability to improve work flow and provide timely and efficient handling.

According to Jenkins, A. (2020). Inventory management assists businesses in

determining which and how much stock to order at what time. It keeps track of inventory from

purchase to sale. The practice identifies and responds to trends in order to ensure that there is

always enough stock to fulfill customer orders and that there is adequate warning of a shortage.

Inventory becomes revenue once it is sold. Inventory (despite being reported as an asset on the
balance sheet) ties up cash before it is sold. As a result, having too much stock costs money and

reduces cash flow.

“Case Study on Inventory Management Improvement”, (Plinere, D., 2015). Inventory

management is a difficult problem in supply chain management. Companies must keep

inventories in warehouses in order to meet customer demand; however, these inventories incur

holding costs, resulting in a frozen fund that can be lost. As a result, inventory management's

task is to determine the number of inventories required to meet demand while avoiding

overstocks. This paper presents an inventory management case study for an assembling

company. It is suggested that inventory management be used to reduce stock levels and that an

agent system be used to automate inventory management processes.

B. Local Literature

“Equipment Inventory Management System (EIMS)”, Tapado, B. M. (2015). Inventory

management systems are typically developed and implemented in manufacturing companies,

where raw materials used in the production of a product are inventoried against the number of

products developed and actual expenditures made until a finished product is produced. Inventory

management systems are rarely used in schools because the priority is to provide quality

instruction. The paper discusses the automated system for managing equipment inventory at the

country's state universities and colleges. Specifically, the system collects data on each

employee's equipment records, tracks the history of the equipment issued to each employee,

performs automated inventory management, and generates reports on equipment inventory

management.
According to Baylen, L. N. L. (2020). The effectiveness of the inventory management

system, which resulted in a decrease in profit of the randomly selected small-sized restaurants in

the four districts of Quezon province, to provide suggestions and solutions to problems

encountered in their day-to-day operations. In order to collect data for this descriptive study,

quantitative and qualitative methods were used. A survey was distributed to restaurant

employees, and an interview was conducted with restaurant owners.

“Inventory Management System with Reorder Triggered SMS Alert ", (Dayday E.,

2013). Inventory systems are important in business because they reduce the time and effort

required to perform product inventory. They protect businesses from inconsistencies in data and,

more importantly, prevent profit loss. The job of monitoring and recording stocks is considered a

strenuous activity, which is why computers and software are used to help. With the advancement

of various computer technologies, computer systems driven by human intervention have sped up

and increased the efficiency of the process.
