INSTRUCTIONS TO STUDENTS:

Construct a quantitative model and apply it to address a particular business problem! You
may select any business problem and any of the models addressed in the course syllabus
depending on the type of problem you want to solve. In doing your research, you should use
the assistance of some software.
Students are invited to prepare their group project in the form of a project report in which
they will present their findings.

Description of the student task:


In your group project, you should address the following:
- Identify one business or general economic problem (e.g. prediction of demand,
transportation between locations, sequencing different tasks in projects, or similar)
- Based on the identified problem, select the appropriate quantitative decision model
(e.g. forecasting, linear regression, critical path method, transport model, or similar)
and construct a model with variables and justify why you selected the model
- Collect your data (secondary resources or your questionnaire)
- Analyze the business or general economic problem using the selected
- Propose some recommendations for making decisions based on findings
- statistical analyses should be presented
- statistical data should be submitted as an appendix to the assignment

Students can choose among a variety of business and economic problems from which they
will construct an adequate quantitative model.
You may select a concrete company or country (or group of countries) to analyze their
available data from different statistical databases such as:

You can construct your questionnaire to get data using google forms, or some other online
services.

Abstract
Introduction
 Research problem should be started here!
Literature review
 In this section you should make a reflection on the literature stating the relevant
problem.
Methodology
 Model should be presented indicating what are the variables. Also, the way of getting
data should be indicated, including which countries (companies) are included, the
time horizon, etc. Justification of selected method should be highlighted and steps in
conducting research.
Research Findings
 Full quantitative analysis should be given here including and descriptive elaboration
of the findings.
Discussion
 interpretation of the results that are reasonable and precise.
Conclusions
 Based on the findings, you should present some recommendations about the research
problem and how it can affect a business area.
References
 Literature and statistical databases used
Appendix
 Used statistical data should be given in table view.

GRADING
This project report is worth 15% of your total course grade. An additional 10% will be given
for oral presentation.
Deduction of points will be in case:
 The report does not address the given topic fully or partially
 The tools and techniques or methods are not applied adequately
 The software is not used to conduct the research
 The important elements or questions of the reports are missing or not elaborated well
 The report contains less than the requested number of words
 The report is not written per academic standards that require important elements to be
included
 The report contains grammatical errors and is not properly formatted
HIGHLY APPRECIATED WILL BE IF:
 The report presents the full overview of the application of the quantitative method and
provides findings relevant to making decision about the problem
 The report is written in a very creative way and it is visually well presented
 The report elaborates the issue in a very concrete way

RESTRICTIONS
- Your paper will be checked for similarity with other sources. The maximum level of
similarity allowed is 20%, excluding the bibliography section. The policy related to
similarity and plagiarism will be STRICTLY implemented. Use APA style for

RECOMMENDATIONS
- address all relevant issues related to the topic,
- be creative,
- be persuasive,
- be a critical thinker,
- take care of using appropriate writing style,
- implement an adequate structure for the paper,
- use infographics and tables to improve the visual effect, and especially to show the
results of the implementation of different tools
- check twice grammar and syntax.
