Annexure - II
Micro-Project Report

1.0 Rationale:

A test case is a set of actions performed on a system to determine if it satisfies software

requirements and functions correctly. The purpose of a test case is to determine if different
features within a system are performing as expected and to confirm that the system satisfies
all related standards, guidelines and customer requirements. The process of writing a test case
can also help reveal errors or defects within the system.

2.0 Aim of the Micro-Project:

“To design test cases for fingerprint voting system.”

3.0 Course Outcomes Achieved:

b) Prepare test cases for different types and levels of testing.

4.0 Literature Review:

Testing has certain levels and steps according to which the person who does
the testing differs from level to level. The three basic steps in the software testing are
Unit testing, Integration testing and System testing. Each of these steps is either tested
by the software developer or the quality assurance engineer who is also known as a
software tester.

Fingerprint Based Voting Project is application where the user is recognized by

his finger pattern. The system allows the voter to vote through his fingerprint. Finger
print is used to uniquely identify the user. The system will allow the user to vote for
one time for a particular election. Admin can view the election result by using the
election id.

ii. Studied the concept of Test Cases.
iii. Designed test cases according to functions and working of software.
iv. Cross checked all the conclusions and answer.
v. Prepared a report on the topic.

8.0 Skills Developed:

Skills developed during the microproject are as follows:

• We learned how to write test cases for selected project.

• We came to know test cases are necessary part of completing a software development
project and without test case document in place after you finish a project, it will be hard to
tell whether the project is working properly or not.

9.0 Applications of this microproject:

Applications of Test Cases:

• Test cases ensure good test coverage.

• Help improve the quality of software.
• Decreases the maintenance and software support costs.
• Help verify that the software meets the end user requirements.
• Allows the tester to think thoroughly and approach the tests from as many angles as possible.
• Test cases are reusable for the future – anyone can reference them and execute the test.

10.0 Conclusion:

We learnt to write test cases to validate requirements of assigned project.
