On Becoming a Teacher
Learning Objectives
o Describe the characteristic of a teacher as person.
o Identify the competencies that make up a professional teacher
in the classroom, in the community, and in the world.
o Document best practices of outstanding teachers.
o Clarify one’s personal values, attitude, and beliefs about
teaching.
o Identify problems and possible solutions with regard to
instruction, student attitudes and the rest
Specific Task
o Observe the teacher inside the classroom
o Interview teachers, heads, MT’s, and Principal (Identify who
or what contributes to their professional growth)
o Interview a teacher about his/her roles and responsibilities in
the school setting.
o Interview teachers or heads on qualifications of a global
teacher
o Make a professional growth timeline
