To remove: 1. Remove screw (A). Remove the face cover (B).

To remove: 1. Open the looper cover unit (A). 2. Loosen set screw (B) and remove the setscrew (C). 3. Remove the belt cover unit (D). To attach: 4. Attach the belt cover unit (D) putting the ribs (E & F) in front panel unit (G) and tension cover unit (H), and tighten setscrews (B & C).

SERVICE ACCESS (3) Tension Cover Unit

To remove: 1. Remove face plate unit and belt cover unit (see pages 3 and 4). 2. Remove setscrews (A & B), and remove tension cover unit (C). To attach: 3. Attach the tension cover unit (C) putting rib (D) in front panel unit (E), and tighten the setscrews (A & B). 4. Attach the belt cover unit and face plate unit.

SERVICE ACCESS (4) Front Panel Unit

To remove: 1 Remove the face plate unit, belt cover unit and tension cover unit (see pages 3, 4 and 5). 2 Move the uppler looper to its lowest position by turning the balance wheel counterclockwise. 3 Remove setscrews (A, B, C, D & E), thread take-up lever (H) and remove the front panel unit (G). To attach: 4 Attach the front panel unit (G), and tighten setscrews (A, B, C, D & E). Attach the thread take-up lever (H) so the thread take-up lever cover (I) and the thread take-up lever should align with the line (F) when the needle is at its highest position. 5 Attach the tension cover unit, belt cover unit and face plate unit.

SERVICE ACCESS (5) Side Cover Unit

To remove: 1 Loosen setscrew (A) and remove the side cover unit (B). To attach: 2 Fit the U-groove (C) in the side cover unit (B) under the head of the setscrews (A). 3 Tighten the setscrews (A).

SERVICE ACCESS (6) Machine Base

To remove: 1 Remove the screws (A, B, C, D & two hinge screws E), and remove the base cushions (F). 2 Remove the machine base (G). To attach: 3 Attach the machine base (G), and tighten the screws (A, B, C & D). 4 Attach the base cushions (F), washers (H, I & J), and tighten the hinge screws (E).

SERVICE ACCESS (7) Machine Socket

To remove: 1 Remove the belt cover (see page 4). 2 Remove the two setscrews (G), and pull out the cord connectors (A, B, C & D). To attach: 3 Insert the cord connectors (A, B, C & D) as shown below. Connectors: A: Blue for motor B: Brown for motor C: Brown for lamp socket D: Blue for lamp socket 4 Attach the machine socket (F), and tighten the two screws (G). 5 Attach the belt cover unit.

ADJUSTING THE NEEDLE BAR HEIGHT

The distance between the tip of needle on the right and the surface of needle plate (B) should be between 11.2 and 11.6 mm when the needle bar (C) is at its highest position. To adjust: 1. Remove the face plate unit (see page 3). 2. Turn the balance wheel toward you with your hand, and set the needle bar (C) at the highest position. 3. Loosen the setscrew (A). Adjust the needle height. The distance between the tip of needle on the right and the surface of needle plate (B) should be 11.2 11.6 mm as illustrated below. Tighten the setscrew (A) after the adjustment is done. 4. Turn the balance wheel toward you one cycle, and check the needle bar height again. 5. Attach the face plate unit.

ADJUSTING THE PRESSER BAR HEIGHT

The distance between the surface of needle plate (C) and bottom of presser foot should be between 4.7 and 5.3 mm (0.185 and 0.209) when the presser bar lifter (D) is raised. To adjust: 1. Remove the face plate unit (see page 3). 2. Remove setscrews (A) to remove the lamp socket unit (E). 3. Raise the presser foot lifter (D), and loosen the setscrew (B). Then adjust the presser bar height. The side of presser foot should be parallel (F) with the feed dog slot of needle plate. 4. Tighten the setscrew (B). 5. Attach the lamp socket unit (E) and tighten the setscrew (A). 6. Attach the face plate unit.

ADJUSTING THE FEED DOG HEIGHT

When the presser foot is lowered and the feed dogs are at their highest position, the distance between the surface of needle plate (C) and bottom of presser foot (G) should be between 0.75 mm and 0.95 mm.

To adjust: 1. Set the stitch length dial at 3 and the differential feed dial at 1.0 Open the side cover. 2. Lower the presser foot and raise the feed dogs (A & B) to their highest position by turning the balance wheel. 3. Loosen the 4 main & sub feed dog screws (D). 4. Push the main feed dog straight upward (E) to adjust the distance between the surface of needle plate and bottom of presser foot, then tighten the setscrews (2 screws). 5. Turn the balance wheel to lower the feed dog until the top of the feed dog is at the same level with the upper surface of the needle plate (C). Loosen the 2 setscrews for sub feed dog (B). Push the sub feed dog straight upward (F) so the sub feed dog height is at the surface of needle plate (C). Tighten the 2 setscrews for sub feed dog (B). 6. Check if these feed dogs are in parallel with the surface of needle plate while turning the balance wheel.

ADJUSTING TIMING OF NEEDLE AND FEED DOG

Lower the presser foot. Turn the handwheel to adjust the tip of right needle height to 2 mm (J) above the surface of needle plate. The top of the feed dog teeth (K) should be leveled with the top sufrace of needle plate (L) at the end of feed movement. To adjust: 1. Remove the machine base. 2. Loosen setscrew (A) and remove setscrew (B). Remove feed base cover (N). 3. Loosen setscrew (C) and remove balance weight (O). Loosen setscrew (D) and remove knife cam (P). Loosen setscrew (E) and remove link pin (Q) and upper knife rod (R). 4. Set feed regulator dial at 3.0, differential dial at 1.0. 5. Raise the presser foot and move the tip of right needle to 2 mm (J) above the needle plate in its downward motion by turning the balance wheel. 6. Lower the presser foot, and loose the two screws (F) and adjust the position of the feed cam (V). * Turn the feed cam in the direction G if the feed dogs are lower than the surface of the needle plate. * Turn the feed cam in the direction H if the feed dogs are higher than the surface of the needle plate. Tighten the screws (F) after the adjustments. 7. Loosen the two screws (I). Turn the balance wheel to bring the 2.5 mm hole (U) of sub feed cam (V) in front position. Insert the guide pin (W) through the sub feed to main feed cam. Tighten the setscrew (I). Clearance between main feed cam and bushing should be 1 mm (X). 8. Attach the link pin (Q) through the upper knife rod (R), and attach the balance weight (O) and knife cam (P) to main shaft. Align the marking-off lines on the balance weight and knife cam with that on the main shaft (T) and tighten the setscrews (C) and (D). 9. Attach the feed base cover and machine base. (K) (A) (N)

ADJUSTING THE THREAD TENSION DIAL

When each dial is set at 3 and No. 50 polyester filament thread (C) is used, the thread tension should be as follows; Needle (left): 25-35g Needle (right): 15-25g Upper looper: 10-20g Lower looper: 20-30g When each dial is set at 9 and No. 50 polyester filament thread (C) is used, the thread tension should be as follows; Needle (Left): 125 g or more Needle (right): 60 g or more Upper looepr: 55 g or more Lower looper: 120 g or more To adjust: 1. Remove the top cover unit. 2. Set the thread tension dials at 3. 3. Adjust each thread tension with the adjusting plate (D). * If the thread tension is higher than the above level, turn the adjusting plate (D) in the direction (A). * If the thread tension is lower than the above level, turn the adjusting plate (D) in the direcition (B). 4. Set the thread tension dials at 9, and check if thread tension is as specified. 5. Attach the top cover unit.

ADJUSTING THE TENSION OF LOWER LOOPER PRE-TENSION SETTING SLIDER

The standard lower looper pre-tension should be 858 g when the lower looper pre-tension setting slider (C) is set at R.H. After adjustment of the thread tension dial, slide the lower looper pre-tension setting slider (C) from STD position to R.H. position. Make sure the changeable thread guide (D) is set at 3/4 position. Adjust the lower looper pre-tension setting slider as follows.

1. When the lower looper thread tension is loose, turn the adjusting screw (E) in the direction of (A). 2. When the lower looper thread tension is tight, turn the adjusting screw in the direction of (B). (C)

ADJUSTING THE NEEDLE AND THE UPPER KNIFE TIMING

The upper knife timing is the same as that needle bar. When the needle bar is at highest position, the upper knife should be also at its highest position. When the needle bar is at its highest position the upper knife should be also at its highest position. To adjust: 1. Remove the side cover (see page 7). 2. Loosen the two setscrews (A) and remove the balance weight (F). 3. Loosen the two setscrews (B), and adjust the needle and upper knife timing. * Turn the upper knife drive cam (G) in the direction of (D) when the upper knife timing is delayed. * Turn the upper knife drive cam (G) in the direction of (E) when the upper knife timing is too early. 4. Tighten the two setscrews (B) firmly. Attach the balance weight (F) and set marking-off line (C) on the balance weight is in line with the one on main shaft and tighten two setscrews (A). 5. Turn the balance wheel toward you one cycle, and recheck the needle and the upper knife timing. 6. Attach the side cover.

ADJUSTING THE STITCH LENGTH

The actual stitch length (F) should be 2.8 to 3.0 mm when the stitch dial is set at 3. To adjust: 1. Set the stitch length dial (C) at 3 and the differential feed dial (D) at 1.0. 2. Remove the face cover unit, belt cover unit, tension cover unit and front panel unit (see pages 3, 4, 5, and 6). 3. If the actual stitch length is larger than 3.0 mm, turn the adjusting screw (E) in the direction of (A). If the actual stitch length is shorter than 2.8 mm, turn the adjusting screw (E) in the direction of (B). 4. Attach the front panel unit, tension cover unit, belt cover unit and face plate unit.

ADJUSTING THE CLEARANCE BETWEEN NEEDLE AND LOWER LOOPER / NEEDLE GUARDS
When the tip of lower looper (G) comes from the left just behind the left or right needle (I), the clearance between either needle and lower looper (G) should be between 0 and 0.1 mm. In this condition, the clearance between both needles and rear needle guard (H) should be between 0 and 0.2 mm. To adjust: 1. Remove the presser foot and needle plate. Loosen screws (A) and (B), and move the front needle guard (J) and rear needle guard (H) to get clearance between needle guards and needle. 2. Turn the balance wheel toward you with your hand to bring the tip of looper just behind the right needle (I) on the right from the left. 3. Loosen the hexagon bolt (B) just enough to move lower looper driving arm (K), and move it to back or front to get the porper clearance between lower looper (G) and needle on the right (should be 0.10.2 mm). 4. To adjust the clearance between needle on the left and lower looper (G), loosen the screw (D) and turn the needle bar in the direction of (E) or (F) to get proper clearance between both needle and lower looper (G). Be careful not to change the needle bar height. 5. Recheck the clearance between the needle on the right and lower looper. Clearance between the needle and rear needle guard: 6. Bring the rear needle guard (H) to the front to set the clearance between the needle (I) and rear needle guard (H) to 0.1 0.3 mm. Then tighten the two setscrews (C). Clearance between the lower looper and needle: 7. Turn the balance wheel toward you until the tip of lower looper comes just behind the center of needle from left. Push the front needle guard (J) against the needle (I) to adjust the clearance between the needle and lower looper (G). The clearance between needle (I) and the tip of lower looper (G) should be 0 to 0.1 mm. In this condition, the clearance between the needle (I) and rear needle guard (H) should be 0 to 0.2 mm. Tighten the two setscrew (A). 8. Check the lower looper (G) position. 9. Check the clearance between the needle (I) and lower looper (G). 10.Check the clearance between lower and upper loopers. 11.Attach the needle plate and presser foot. ADJUSTING THE CLEARANCE BETWEEN NEEDLES AND FIXED NEEDLE GUARD

The clearance between needle (B) and the fixed guard (C) should be 0.1 to 0.4 mm (D). To adjust: 1. Remove the foot and the needle plate and lower the needle to its lowest position. 2. Loosen the setscrew (A) and adjust the position of the fixed needle guard (C). When needle position setting knob is set at S, the fixed needle guard (C) should touch (F) the chaining-off finger (E) as shown below. 3. Tighten the setscrew (A). 4. Attach the needle plate and the foot.

ADJUSTING THE POSITION OF CHAINING-OFF FINGER

When setting the needle plate setting knob (E) at guide line S, chaining-off finger (B) should touch the side of needle plate (C) and tip of chaining-off finger should be at the same level as the tip of the pin of the needle plate (D). To adjust: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Remove the presser foot. Set the needle plate setting knob (E) to the guide line (S) on chaining-off finger (B). Loosen 2 setscrews (A), and move the chaining-off finger unit (B) to adjust its position. Tighten 2 setscrews (A). Set the needle plate setting knob (E) to the guide line (S) and (R) and check the position of chaining-off finger (B). Attach the presser foot.

ADJUSTING THE NEEDLE AND LOWER LOOPER TIMING

When the needle comes up 1.6 mm (A) from its lowest position, the tip of lower looper (B) matches with the left side of left needle (C). To adjust: 1. Remove the presser foot and the needle plate. 2. Turn the balance wheel toward you with your hand to bring the needle (C) 1.6 mm from its lowest position. Loosen the hexagon bolt (D) just enough to move the lower looper driving arm (E), and move it unitl the tip of lower looper (B) comes just to left side of needle on the left (C). 3. Tighten the hexagon bolt (D). Check if timing of the needle and lower looper is correct. Check the clearance between the needle and lower looper needle guards. 4. Attach the presser foot and the needle plate.

ADJUSTING THE POSITION OF UPPER LOOPER

When the upper looper (A) is at the leftmost position, the distance between the center of needle on the right and the center of looper eye should be 4.8 to 5.2 mm (B). To adjust: 1. Remove the machine base. 2. Make sure that the marking-off line on the upper looper drive cam is in line with the one on the main shaft. 3. Loosen the hexagon bolt (C), and adjust the distance between upper looper shaft guide (D) and bottom of upper looper (A). The distance should be 1.6 to 1.8 mm (E) when the upper looper (A) is at the lowest position as shown below. 4. Tighten the hexagon bolt (C). Be careful no to tighten too much. otherwise the upper looper driving arm will be cracked. 5. Turn the balance wheel and bring the upper looper (A) to the leftmost position. 6. Loosen the hexagon socket screw (F), and adjust the distance between the center of needle and center of upper looper eye as shown below (B). 7. Tighten the hexagon socket screw (F). 8. Check the upper and lower loopers timing and clearance between upper and lower loopers.

ADJUSTING THE UPPER & LOWER LOOPERS TIMING

When the lower looper (C) moves to the right, the lower looper (C) meets the upper looper (D) within 1 mm (J) from the left of lower looper eye at a right angle as shown in (Fig. 1). To adjust: 1. Before proceeding with this adjustment, check the lower looper timing and the position of upper looper. 2. Remove the machine base. 3. Loosen the two setscrews (F), and adjust the timing by turning the upper looper drive cam (G) in the direction of: (A) If the timing of upper looper is too early as shown in (Fig. 2). (B) If the timing of upper looper is delayed as shown in (Fig. 3). The allowance is (J) 1 mm from the left edge of lower looper (C) eye as shown in (Fig. 1). 4. Tighten the 2 setscrews (G). 5. Check the clearance between the loopers. 6. Attach the machine base.

ADJUSTING THE CLEARANCE BETWEEN LOOPERS

When the loopers meet as shown in (Fig. 2), the clearance should be between 0 and 0.2 mm (D) as shown in (Fig. 1).

To adjust: 1. Remove the spreader setscrew (E) and the spreader holding plate (F). 2. Turn the balance wheel toward you with your hand to bring the loopers as shown in (Fig. 2). 3. Loosen the setscrew (G), and adjust the clearance by turning the upper looper (H) to the back or front as shown in (Fig. 3). 4. Tighten the setscrew (G) firmly. 5. Check the clearance between the upper looper (H) and needle. 6. Set the spreader holding plate (F) and tighten the spreader set screw (E).

ADJUSTING THE CLEARANCE BETWEEN NEEDLE AND UPPER LOOPER

When the upper looper (A) meets with needle, clearance (C) should be: * 0.1 to 0.15 mm at the needle on the left. * 0.2 to 0.05 mm at the needle on the right. To adjust: 1. 2. 3. 4. Turn the balance wheel toward you with your hand to lower the needle just behind the upper looper (A). Loosen the setscrew (B), and adjust the clearance (C) between the both needles and upper looper (A). Tighten the setscrew (B). Check the clearance between the loopers.

ADJUSTING THE POSITION OF KNIVES

The edge of the lower knife (A) should be leveled with the surface of needle plate (B). When the upper knife (C) is at the lowest position, the front lower corner of upper knife should be 0.8 to 1.5 mm (D) below the edge of lower knife. To adjust: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Before proceeding with this adjustment, check the upper knife timing. Loosen the 2 setscrew (E), and adjust the lower knife position. Turn the balance wheel to bring upper knife (C) to the lowest position. Loosen the hexagonal bolt (F), and adjust the position of upper knife (C). Tighten the hexagonal bolt (F).

ADJUSTING THE POSITION OF LOWER LOOPER THREAD GUIDE

Lower looper thread guide (E) Loosen the setscrew (A), and adjust the lower looper thread guide (E) so that the hole of thread guide (E) is in line with the groove of lower looper (G) as shown in (F). Looper thread guide (Lower) Loosen the setscrew (B). Adjust the bottom side of the looper thread guide (D) so that the guide (D) is in line with the bottom side of the upper looper driving arm (C). Tighten the setscrew (B) to secure the position.
