Teachers Activity Students Activity

Let us review first our previous
discussion. Again, what are the
basic food groups?

Who can give me one example of

(Students will answer all the

and your partner will guess why,
okay?
I will pass this “magic wand”
around the classroom, if It’s your
time, share it with the class.

You can do it orally, you can tape

record your ideas before writing
them down and you can write in
either print or cursive.

C. Discussion:

Class our lesson for today is all about

the importance of proper nutrition.

First, class do you have any idea about

what is good nutrition? (Student share their ideas)

Good nutrition means your body gets

all the nutrients, vitamins, and minerals
it needs to work its best.

How can we achieve this?

By planning our meals and snacks to
include nutrient-dense foods that are
also low in calories.

In the comfort of your own houses, (Student answers)

how do you choose foods? How is your
meal composed?

So now class lets watch a video on

how to create a healthy plate.

https://youtu.be/Gmh_xMMJ2Pw

(Student respond)
That helps a lot right?
From the video you have watched,
what are the tips in creating a healthy
plate?
(Write responses in the whiteboard and
highlights the important part)

We need to eat plenty of fruits. (Show (Answer)

slide of fruits) What do you prefer a
fruit juice or a whole fruit?
One good tip in eating fruit class is to
eat it whole rather than juices. Do you
know why? Because we can get the
natural fiber when we eat it whole.

(Vegetable and whole grains)

Next, what else do we need to eat?

Do you know why whole grain is

better?
(Show a slide of vegetables and
wholegrain)
Whole grains are better sources of
fiber and other important nutrients,
such as B vitamins, iron, folate,
selenium, potassium and magnesium.

Another, we need to choose what kind (Low fat or fat-free milk)

of milk?
Yes, these provide calcium and vitamin
D to help your bones strong.
(Show slide of milk)

(Lean meat)
For good sources of protein, class
choose what meat?
Yes, lean meat because it has less fat
ad fewer calories. Try also other
sources of protein by replacing meats
and poultry with fish, beans or tofu.

Now we’ve done defining what is good

nutrition and how to create a healthy
plate.
Class do you know why it’s important?
Let’s watch this video
https://youtu.be/KD-FmeueFUo

Most people know good nutrition and

physical activity can help maintain a
healthy weight. But the benefits of
good nutrition go beyond weight.

There are seven bullets here in the

slide. (The students will read
Please read bullets 1-3 number 1-3)
Healthy diets boost "good" cholesterol
(high-density lipoprotein)
and decrease unhealthy triglycerides.
(The student will read number
Who wants to read number 4? 4)
Eating well helps to reduce the risk of
physical health problems like heart
disease and diabetes. It also helps with
sleeping patterns, energy levels,
and your general health. You may
have noticed that your mood often
affects the types of food you choose,
as well as how much you eat. (The student will read number
5-6)
Next, read number 5-6
Maintaining a healthy diet keeps
the immune system balanced and
ready to fight against infection and
viruses.
(The student will read number
Kindly read number 7 7)
A variety of factors can affect this
natural ebb and flow. These include
sleep and stress levels, your level of
physical activity and the foods you eat.
Generally, having a meal or snack
tends to refuel your tank, helping you
feel more energetic.

(Student will share what they

have learned)
(Generalization)
What have you learned from our
previous lesson?
You can write it, share it orally or make
an activity to show how.
(Read and reread all the key points in
the whiteboard and emphasize
highlighted main concepts )

We already know how to create a

healthy plate and why is that good
nutrition is important.

D. Application

Now class, I will divide you into two

groups. I will show you images then
you need to identify when I start to ask
if the image shows healthy plate or (Student will participate)
unhealthy.
(Show example to make students
understand)
For “kinesthetic” group come to front
and demonstrate how to create a
healthy plate.
