History

St.Andrew High School for Girls once named Jamaica High school for girls was founded on Sep
21, 1925 by the Presbyterian and Methodist church, located at 10 cecelio avenue. The first principal
of St.Andrew is Miss Jenny Gartshore and the first vice principal is Miss Doris Stockhausen as well as
the first chairman was Rev .John Currey . At first when the school opened it started with 12 students.
Our first principal created the motto “ life more abundant” and the meaning is to live life the fullest
and have fun.

The Core Values of st Andrew high school for girls is:

Reverence for God – When you have a reverent attitude toward God, you honor Him, express your
gratitude to Him, and obey His commandments.

Excellence - the quality of being outstanding or extremely good in studies as well as behaviour.

Discipline - teaching someone responsible behaviour and self-control

Respect - Respect is a way of treating or thinking about something or someone.

Integrity and Honesty – INTEGRITY - Acting in a way you know to be right and kind in all situations.
HONESTY - Being truthful and sincere with your words, actions and thoughts.

Kindness and Compassion - Kindness allows for a two-way interaction, where compassion is just
outward or inward and not necessarily action-oriented but more feeling-oriented.
