Course Objectives:
● Students will demonstrate their reading improvements by measurable gains on I-ready
reading by 5 points.
● Students will demonstrate their improvement within reading comprehension by
increasing their lexile by 50 points.
● Students will demonstrate how to use a Venn Diagram to compare and contrast
characters in a story by 10 points.
● Students will demonstrate and Identify and use words that name actions, directions, positions,
sequences, and locations by 5 points.
● Students will demonstrate and Identify elements of a story including setting, character, and key
events by 10 points.
● Students will demonstrate how to recognize sensory details; and Recognize recurring phrases and
characters in traditional fairy tales, lullabies, and folktales from various cultures 15 points.
Assignments
Due Dates:
The due dates for this course as follows:
● Dec. 5: Venn Diagram
● Dec. 12: Story map
● Dec. 16: Nine weeks assessment on compare and contrast stories for G-Kids.
Assessments:
In this course objectives will be assessed through the following methods; summative, formative,
self assessments.
Remediation:
Intervention can be offered during enrichment or during extra I-ready time.
Grading:
● 90-100 = A
● 80-89 = B
● 70-79 = C
N= Needs Improvement
S= Satisfactory
Evaluation:
● 10 points - Assignments in class
● 10 points - Interactive instruction response
● 10 points - Review questions/quizzes
● 20 points - Venn Diagram/story map completion
Feedback:
● Students will be given report cards every 9 weeks, progress reports every 4 ½ weeks.
Based on assignments , teacher will give feedback in a number of ways including;
flipgrid, bitmoji, bitpal, dojos and written feedback in their report cards.
Students with Special Needs: Differentiated instruction for other learners: Extra teacher
scaffolding, visual modeling, modeled writing, and extra support will be available for my SPED
students. Small group and buddy partnering will be available for these students as well.

● Assignments will be graded within 7 days.
● Conference by appointments only.
● Weekly folders need to be checked and signed.
Students
Expectations: Students will be expected to:
● Come to class on time
● Have their blue reading folder and their weekly red folder.
