FIRST HOLY COMMUNION LITURGY

INTRODUCTORY RITES:

(First Communicants and their parents enter in procession)

Introduction:

Commentator: Rejoice! Let us praise the Lord!

(Claps his/her hands 3x)

All: Rejoice! Let us praise the Lord!

(Clap their hands 3x)

Child1: Today is a special day. It is a great and beautiful day.

It is the day the Lord has made. We are going to renew the promise
we made when we were baptized, promise made by our parents or
godparents for us. We want to be like Jesus. He is good, obedient
and full of love.

Child2: Today, for the first time, we are going to receive Jesus, the Bread of
life. Just like the bread that we need in order to grow and become
strong, Jesus, the Bread of Life, makes us also strong in our faith and
in our love for God and others.

Child1: Hail, Jesus, Bread of Life!

All: Hail, Jesus, Bread of Life!

Child2: Hail, Jesus, Life-giving Food!

All: Hail, Jesus, Life-giving Food!

Child1: Be happy! Jesus is with us.

All: Be happy! Jesus is with us.

Entrance Song: Sing tra, la, la, la..

(While singing the entrance song the priest enter in procession with the servers)

GREETING:

Priest: In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

All: Amen

Priest: The Lord be with you

All: And with your Spirit!

Priest: This is a special day for us all, especially for you, our dear children,
because you are going to receive Jesus in Holy Communion for the first
time. When you were baptized you became members of God’s family.
That is why; Jesus will give you a special sign of his body and love. He
will give you his Body and Blood.
Today, you will pledge to love him more each day. Let us then prepare
ourselves to receive Jesus in our heart and in our life.

PENITENTIAL RITE:
Priest: Let us ask forgiveness from one another and especially from God for
not being as good as He wants us to be.

I Confess to almighty God

and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned,
in my thoughts and in my words,
in what I have done and in what I failed to do
through my fault, through my fault,
through my most grievous fault;
therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-virgin,
all the angels and saints
and you, my brothers and sisters
to pray for me to the Lord our God.
Priest: May almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and bring
us to everlasting life.
3

All: Amen.
Lord have mercy (SUNG)
Glory to God…(SUNG)

OPENING PRAYER:

Priest: Let us pray,

Loving Father, you are good. You give us life. On the day we were
baptized, you called us your children. We ask you to make us strong
as we receive Jesus Christ, the Bread of Life, so that we will grow
and become good children. Grant this through Jesus Christ, our
brother, together with the Holy Spirit, One God forever and ever.
All: Amen.
Commentator: Please be seated for the liturgy of the word.

LITURGY OF THE WORD:

Unang Pagbasa: Acts 2:42-47

4

All: Salamat sa Diyos

Salmong Tugunan:
Ang Panginoon ang aking Pastol pinagiginhawa akong lubos

Pangalawang pagbasa: 1Cor 11:23-29

Nagpasalamat, at pinagpira-piraso

Commentator: Please stand to honor the Holy Gospel.

Gospel Acclamation: Alleluia! (sung)

GOSPEL

Priest: Sumainyo ang Panginoon.

All: At sumaiyo rin

5
Priest: Ang Mabuting Balita ng Panginoon ayon kay San Lukas: 9:10-17

All: Papuri sa iyo, Panginoon!

matutuluyan. Nasa isang ilang lugar po tayo.” Ngunit sinabi niya,
“kayo ang magbibigay sa kanila ng makakain.” Sumagot sila, “Wala
tayo kundi limang tinapay at dalawang isda, kaya kailangang bumili
naroon.) Ngunit sinabi niya sa kanyang mga alagad. “Paupuin ninyo
lahat at nabusog.

All: Pinupuri Ka namin, Panginoong Hesukristo.

Commentator: Please be seated for the homily
