VERY COLD WEATHER CONDITIONS EXPECTEDE NEXT WEEK

The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Conservation

through The Department of Meteorological Services wishes toI inform the public
that the very cold weather conditions are expected next week

In reference to the winter outlook statement issued by the Department
M
in April
2018, it was indicated that occasional cold spells would be experienced
E from
time to time. A cold front is expected to transverse the sub- Nregion followed by
cold temperatures that would reach the southern parts of the T country and
,
eventually dropping temperatures across the country. On Monday 2nd July 2018,
the temperatures are expected to drop over the Kgalagadi district
N with maximum
of 14 degrees Celsius and minimum of -4 degrees Celsius theA following morning
(Tuesday 3rd July 2018). These will be accompanied by freshT winds of 26km/hr.

The cold spell is expected to affect other areas on the 3rd of July
2018, where

maximum temperatures will be very cold ranging from 12 to 16 degrees Celsius
over Gantsi, Kgalagadi, Southern, South- east, Kgatleng andR Kweneng districts.

Ngamiland, Central and North-east districts are expected toSbe cold ranging from
17 degrees Celsius to 21 degrees Celsius whereas Chobe willO remain mild at 25
degrees Celsius. Moreover, minimum temperatures are expected U to drop below
freezing point on the 3 of July 2018 over the southern half of the country to -4

However, there will be a slight improvement in both maximumS and minimum
temperatures by midweek, although they will remain cold up toC the end of the
