A. Introduction
Teaching writing is a crucial lesson for English students. It is a process of
transferring knowledge from teacher to students to produce a creation in the form of
writing. There are four fundamental aspects that is taught to English students,
reading, listening, speaking and writing. The ability of writing is the part of the four
categories of skills considered productive. These skills are used to improve students'
language ability and is the end goal of their education. Teaching writing can make
students be able to explain messages and ideas to someone who is not physically
present, it is also a tool for sharing messages with a specific purpose. Furthermore,
teaching writing is needed because it helps students convey their ideas, messages, and
purpose with their writings.
The primary goal of teaching writing is to teach students linguistic,
communicative and cultural competencies. It is also will improve students' ability in
writing, how to build words into sentence, sentence into essay and so on. This will be
a useful knowledge for students when they passed from the university. But it is not as
simple as people thought, moreover it is complicated. That is why teaching writing
must be taught to students to improve their comprehension of writing. In teaching
writing, students will be remembered to mastering the basic material like part of
speech, modifiers, sentence, etc. Because if students did not understand the material,
it will be a big problem when they try to write an essay or something. Furthermore,
after students master those material, they will be given material that more particular
like paragraph, transition, punctuation, etc.
Teaching writing has several benefits for students. First, writing clearly
requires students to develop organizational skills, and this benefit extends to other
subjects students learn. As mentioned by white in the forth paragraph, writing is a
medium for learning the elements of language. In other word, writing benefits extend
to other language subjects. Second, teaching writing helps students thinks through
topics and construct arguments. Teaching writing helps students recognize the

3
difference between facts and opinions, as well as learn how to support their ideas
with facts. Additionally, this activity will help them better understand logical thinking
and the best way to present their ideas. Third, students who want to be successful
tomorrow need to learn how to speak with more power and also learn how to write
better. beyond just using social media platforms to share their ideas, When students
realize that they have an audience, they begin to write more effectively and
communicate more effectively. Fourth, Writing, like reading, involves multiple life
activities. Writing is not just for school, it is a life skill. Whether it is an email to a
colleague, a letter to a senator, an acceptance speech, or a love letter to a spouse, our
children's future will be filled with opportunities to communicate clearly in writing.
Fifth, Students will be able to teach the next generation. Students' next generation
need to know how to communicate clearly in writing. Equip our children with this
important life skill, so they have the tools to teach the next generation. Find a writing
program that works to help your child think, write and rethink. It will be worth it -
now and twenty years from now.
Writing is very attractive, because it is not only fill a blank paper with several
words, but more than that. It is need our creativity because writing is an art and a
craft. A writer needs inspiration when they write, that is why it is an art. And writer
also need ability, patience and practice, that is why it is a craft. So, to make students
capable to write well, they have to improve their critical thinking and critical reading
to generate an inspiration. Furthermore, students must make writing as their habit by
doing a lot of exercises. If students do it regularly, they will obtain the ability of
writing. Therefore, being critical and hard worker is very important part to be a good
writer. Writing need focus and carefulness, especially when students write in English.
There are a lot of things that students must pay attention when they are writing, like
grammar, sentence structure, idioms, and vocabulary. Like what white said that it can
be an opportunity for students to explore their knowledge about writing.

4
Writing skill is an indispensable part of a student’s creative process. It is
necessary to choose good ideas for these creations in order to deliver them
internationally and in journals and novels. Lecturer instructing students on how to
choose good ideas to helps them deliver their creativity. Furthermore, the lecturer
teaches students how to write and deliver these creations by using proper grammar,
spelling, and punctuation. Students with strong writing skills can easily participate in
any form of writing competition. These include writing stories or poems, making
suggestions or ideas, creating essays and articles. While many of these competitions
require argumentative or persuasive writing, they’re still easy to participate in.
Anyone with writing skills is capable of that.
According to White (1985), the writing activity can be a medium or tool for
learning the elements of language, because writing requires students to apply
knowledge of grammar, sentence structure, idioms, and vocabulary. Additionally,
students have the opportunity to explore the language that they have learnt.
According to Graham (2007), learning writing skills in school has two important
benefits. First, writing is a skill that demonstrates the ability to use strategies such as
planning, evaluating, and revising to achieve the goals of writing itself, with different
perspectives and supporting evidence. Second, writing means expanding and
deepening students’ knowledge. Writing is a tool for learning lessons.
Based on the opinion of the experts above, it can be concluded that writing
can be used as a media for students to use the knowledge that they have obtained in
the form of written production. Since, writing can stimulate students brain to bring
out everything they know to create a masterpiece. There are many studies that have
been done that says the most effective way to improve students’ comprehension about
material is practice. In other words, students get a lot of knowledge in the content of
writing.
The lessons of IWCP1 concentrate on teaching students how to write a correct
sentence, paragraph, and essay. It is important to note that the lessons are being

5
delivered by the lecturer, if the students did not focus on the class, students will not
be able to accept or understand the material. If students are not taking this seriously,
they will not be able to create a proper essay and practice their writing skills. Through
formal training and consistent exposure to writing, students can improve their writing
abilities. This proves that writing is a skill that can be trained and practiced. Many
people believe that mastering writing is harder than listening, speaking and reading. If
students want to continue struggling through difficult lessons about writing, they can
successfully master writing. Students with strong writing skills can easily participate
in any form of writing competition. These include writing stories or poems, making
suggestions or ideas, creating essays and articles. While many of these competitions
require argumentative or persuasive writing, they are still easy to participate in.
Anyone with writing skills is capable of that.
IWCP1 emphasizes the importance of teaching writing for students. It
explains that writing is one of the four primary skills that students need to master
when pursuing mastery of the English language. This course discusses how to create
good writing: from short sentences to long sentences, from sentences to paragraphs,
and from paragraphs to essays. It also discusses how to create good writing from each
of these stages. English Department requires students to demonstrate writing skills
when they graduate. This is because the department focuses on teaching IWCP1,
which discusses everything. Students who pay close attention to their instructors will
have a quick understanding of the material. If they do not, students will have a hard
time understanding the material. IWCP1 is an indispensable course for students'
creative process. It is necessary to choose good ideas for these creations in order to
deliver them internationally and in journals and novels. Teachers instructing students
on how to choose good ideas helps them deliver their creativity. Teachers also teach
students how to write and deliver these creations by using proper grammar, spelling,
and punctuation.

6
IWCP1 is really important because has many advantages, some of them have
been explained in the previous paragraph but the most important advantage of IWCP
1 is to help students when they arrange the proposal and thesis, as to know that
proposal and thesis is mandatory thing for the student of university, so IWCP1 has a
very important role to arrange it. IWCP1 is very suitable for the students to learn and
develop in stages arrange process to get the good result. The students can conclude
that teaching IWCP1 has big role for the students in the university because IWCP 1
can make the students easier in many place.
IWCP1 not only has purpose to make students good at formulating the correct
sentences, but also to teach how the differences to be understood to the dark of any
types of writing such as when write a report and write an experience, surely there is a
special rule that splashing both the writings, for example in narrative essay and
descriptive essay, of course the tenses that is used is difference, in narrative essay use
past tense and in descriptive essay use simple tense, something like this have to be
known by the students to make them can produce a good writing and make it depends
on science of writing.

Meeting 15

At this meeting, students were asked to go on vacation spots to find tourists to
speak English with. Students Were asked to do this so that became a practice for them
to implement what they had got. At this meeting, the lecturer did not require meeting
tourists, but of course there would always be additional points if the students found
tourists. Then students were asked to make documentation of their meeting to include
it in their report.
Here, the student (Muh Iqbal Kholik) wanted to share what he found in this
meeting. So, the student went to look for tourists alone because other friends had
done this before. Initially, the student invited a boarding house friend to accompany
him looking for tourists on the beach. However, because a friend of the boarding
house had just returned from college and was tired, the student was forced to go to
look for tourists on his own. Despite going alone, the student still did it without a
doubt. The student was looking for tourists on Senggigi Beach, where there are lots of
tourists to chat with.
The trip was not too far because the student's boarding house was close to
Senggigi. Before leaving, the student checked the weather first to make sure he did
not get rained on the way. After that, the student prepared money, food, and cigarettes
so the journey felt enjoyable. Then the student departs at 17:12 because this was the
right time to look for tourists and to enjoy the sunset. Nothing interesting happened
on the trip, so just go straight to when the student arrived at the beach.
When the student arrived at Senggigi Beach, the student saw that there were
lots of tourists on the beach. However, the student could not invite one of them to
chat because most of them were eating. Then the student found a female tourist who
was busy taking pictures of the sunset. The student approximated the tourist and
asked her to have a conversation. But unfortunately, the tourist must immediately left
with her friends.
After the student failed with the first one, he rushed to find another one.
Suddenly someone called out to him, which turned out to be the student's classmate

who was also looking for a tourist to chat with. Surely it was very fortunate to meet
friends when we were in conditions like that. Then the student and his friends
discussed briefly about where they would go to look for tourists. And suddenly a
handsome tourist walked beside them. Without wasting the opportunity, the student
immediately invited the tourist to chat. Thanks god, the tourists wanted to have a
conversation with the student.

Here was the conversation between the author and the tourists:

Meeting 16

27
At this meeting, because this was the last meeting which was generally the
time for final exams to be held, usually each course provided a test as a final exam for
students. However, because IWCP1 used the report as the final exam, there was no
test at this meeting. Because there was no test, so that the value of the report made by
the students would be the final score for the students. Reports were made based on
what the students had been obtained and summarized at each IWCP1 meeting.
The report must consisted of introduction, the objectives of IWCP 1, The
significance of IWCP 1, Steps and techniques of activity conclusion, and appendixes
that explained the learning process from the meeting 1 until meeting 16. And then,
show the pictures, the first and the second pictures were a pictures which took in the
class when learning process, and the third picture was when the students did the Tour
Task in tourism. From the elaboration above, this is a fair price to replace the final
exam score.
