SCHOOL LEARNING ACTION CELL

1st SLAC in Sta. Anastacia-San Rafael National High School in S.Y. 2022-2023
November 18, 2022
2:30-5:00 pm

School administrators' and teachers'

comprehension of the process will determine if School
Learning Action Cells (SLAC) LACs, which are thought
to be the most affordable continuous professional
development approach that improves the teaching-
learning process, are successfully implemented.
The Program for Decentralized Education
(PRODED), Third Elementary Education Project
(TEEP), Secondary Education Development and Improvement Project (SEDIP), as well as empirical studies
on similar professional development programs, show teachers' participation in professional development
activities have a positive impact on teachers' beliefs and practices, students' learning, and teachers'
satisfaction, provide evidence to support this policy (UNESCO ISO, 2006).
LACs are thought to be the most affordable continuing professional development process that
enhances the teaching-learning process that will improve student learning, nurtures successful teachers,
enables teachers to support one another to continuously improve their content and pedagogical knowledge,
practice, skills, and attitudes; and fosters a professional collaborative spirit among school administrators,
teachers, and the community at large (Oakley, et.al., 2018).
Lifelong learning is important for teachers, including what it means to be a learning teacher, the
kinds of learning that teachers do, and their motivations for continuing to learn. Professional development
days may not always focus on the topics that instructors wish to learn about or address their concerns about.
Teachers with a commitment to lifelong learning have access to resources and use them to work with others.
Additionally, learning teachers see difficulties and errors as a natural part of the learning process rather than
failures.
As part of this, last November 18, 2022, Friday, Sta. Anastacia- San Rafael National High School
conducted its 1st School Learning Action Cell (SLAC) for S.Y. 2022-2023 headed by Dr. Jhomar C. Sor
Principal III at 2:30-5:00 pm. It was facilitated by Sir Ian S. Genovia, before the program started, he gives a
few reminders and seek for the cooperation of all participants.
The program formally started with an invocation led by Ms. Janine C. Mangabat, Head Teacher I of
MAPEH to be followed by a warm word of welcome from Florentina G. Quintana, Head Teacher I of
