CHAPTER FIVE

SUMMARY
The entire research project was carried on in depth analysis of the factors responsible for the prevalence
of food borne diseases due to poor food hygiene in rural communities of Kurfi local government
area.The main objectives purpose is to identified the major causes of poor hygiene in rural communities
and ascertain the prevalence of those problems and their effect to human health, various diseases
associated with poor food hygiene and to offer suggestion and recommendation on the ways of
controlling and preventing of the diseases and also health educate the general public in the importance
of food hygiene and environmental sanitation to human health.

Base on number of respondents, are 100 respondents are used in obtaining the relevance information
collected from them.The sampling techniques applied in this research is the simple random sampling
method where by five (s) communities were randomly selected so as to ensure that people represented
adequately,the target population of the area of the study is even hundred and. eighty two thousand
eight hundred and thirty (782,830)living withing the Kurfi local government.

The instrument used in obtaining the relevance information of this research was questionnaire.

Based on findings identified poor environmental sanition and personal hygiene has been identified as
factor responsible for the prevalence of food borne diseases due to poor food hygiene in rural
communities, which is largely due to ignorance of elementary principCONCLUTION

hygiene. Therefore it is impossible to have a safe food in rural communities without progress on food
sanitation and also believed that poor environmental sanitation and poor personal hygiene can lead to
food borne diseases.

CONCLUTION
It was found that ignorance and poverty. Poor personal hygiene. Poor environmental hygiene.
Indiscriminate exposing of dood. In sufficient source of water supply is among the major causes of food
borne diseases in rural communities. In many of these discussion disease such as cholera,typhoid,
fever,salmonellosis,hastro enteritis, complylobacteriosis.dysentery diseases all are passed by the
transmission of food or water which affect human health directly or indirectly.

Environmental sanitation should be enforced to enhence health for all,while the public health officials
should be given maximum support and cooperation in all programmes and also people should laid their
own cause bye being knowledgeable and cooperating with public health officers who are protecting
them for the growth and development of our society.
Proper food hygiene encompasses the practice and habits which will protect and individual from
problems associated with food borne diseases and maintain an individual to the highest degree of
health.

Conclusively unless the problem of factors responsible for the prevalence of food borne diseases in rural
communities are given a serious attention in deserves both by the government and nongovernmental
organization, public health officials. Community members.the prevalence will continue in Kurfi local
government area and spread even bePUBLIC

RECOMMENDATION
In order to effectively deals with the factors responsible for the prevalence of food borne diseases due
to poor food hygiene in rural communities of Kurfi local government area the following
recommendation where made to public and government at large.

PUBLIC
1-proper and simple home water purification such as boiling and filtration should be given priority.

2-peopl should given their Maxine,support and participation in all health related programme which
meant for their benefit.

3-people should actually participate in environment and community hygiene.

4-povision of sanitary convenience in each house in order to break the chance of indiscriminate
defection..

5-personal hygiene should be practiced regularly in order to promote food hygiene

6-provision of adequate cooking and storage facilities in order to prevent diseases associated with poor
food hygiene.

7-Raw food should be wasted before eating.

8-proper cooking of foods and meat for human consumption.

9-privision and proper use of waste disposals facilities should be given more attention.

COVERNMENT
1-Envirimental sanitation and markets inspection should enforced so as to make the environmental
clean for human habitation.

2-Portable water supply should be made available to the people.


3-Public toilet should be made available especially In the market so as to control indiscriminate
defecation.

4-Refuse disposal and collection facilities should be made available in the community.

5-Licensing if public eating house should be enforced in order to qualify licensed health officials to
inspect the premises before and during commencement of operations.

6-Both ante mortem and post mortem inspection of food animals should do.

7-Adequate provision and construction of effective drainages system should be made in all community
especially rural areas so as to drain waste water.

8-Sanitary inspection from EHO/EHT/EHA should be made mandatory in all eating house.
