uses rectangles called bars.

2. A table is a report that is using numbers to

describe something.

C. Activity

Let me read to you a story. Before I read it

to you, let us recall the steps in listening to a story?

What is the first step in listening to a

story? Sir, sit properly and listen
carefully.

Excellent, what is the next step? Identify the characters and

the setting of the story.

Very good. Are there other answers? Don’t speak when the teacher
is reading the story.

That is right. Now let me read to you

the story.

      THE BLESSING OF NATURE

Mang Pedring is a farmer. His wife, Aling

Fe, is a vendor in the market. They have two children.
They love their children very much. On Monday, 
Mang Pedring and Aling Fe sold 20 vegetables.
On Wednesday, they sold 30 vegetables. On
Friday, they sold 50 vegetables in the market.
They kept the money to buy food for their family.
Mang Pedring and Aling Fe love their family very
much.

(The teacher will ask some questions.)

Who are the characters in the story? The characters in the story are
Mang Pedring, Aling Fe and their
children.

Excellent! What is the work of Mang

Berting? Mang Berting works as a
farmer.

Good. What is the work of Aling Fe? Aling Fe works as a market

vendor.

Do Mang Pedring and Aling Fe love

their children? Yes, sir.

Values Integration:

What will happen if Mang Pedring did

not plant any vegetables? They will have nothing to sell in
the market.

Good! What will happen if they did not

sell vegetables in the market? They will have nothing to eat
because they have no money.

Yes. Let us always remember that the

nature can also help us. We can plant
vegetables and fruits so that we can have
something to eat.

We can also sell them to the market

so that we can have money to buy the things
we need.

D. Analysis

Let us go back to the story.

How many days did Mang Pedring and
his wife sold fruits in the market? Sir, they sold their vegetables
in three days.

That is correct. On what days do they sell

their vegetables? They sold their vegetables on
Monday, Wednesday, and
Friday.

Amazing! How many vegetables did Mang

Pedro sell on Monday? Mang Pedro sold 20 vegetables.

Good! What about on Wednesday? He sold 30 vegetables.

(Do the same questions until all days

are asked.)

Now we know the number of vegetables

Mang Pedro and Aling Fe harvested for three days.

E. Abstraction

Did you know  that there are two other ways

to show the number of harvested vegetables?

(Show  the bar graph)

This is called a bar graph. It shows information

about numbers collected through bars.

Let us draw the correct bars for every day of

harvest.
 How many vegetables were harvested on
Monday? 20 vegetables were harvested.

Correct. Now, we have to draw the bar aligned 

to the correct number of vegetables harvested.

How many vegetables were harvested on

Wednesday? 30 vegetables were harvested.

Let us draw a bar with the correct number.

 How many vegetables were harvested on
Friday? 50 vegetables were harvested.

In making bar graphs, you have to identify the numbers

to be used. Then, draw the bars aligned to its correct number
on the graph. Do you understand? Yes, sir.

Very good. There’s also another way of showing

the number of harvested vegetables.

GROUP ACTIVITY

Now let us have a group activity. I will group

you again into two and I will give you an
empty bar graph and a table.

I will also give you a card that has a story. Kindly

read the story and complete the bar graph.

But before we start our activity, let us

first recall the steps in doing a group activity.

Who can recall the first step? Sir, be helpful.

Correct, what are the other steps? Do not go to the other groups
when the group activity starts.

Story:
      Ate Charing’s Pet Shop

Ate Charing likes pets. She takes care of

animals and she loves them very much. One day, 
she opened her own pet shop. She has 20 cats,
40 dogs, 15 birds, 10 turtles and 25 fishes.
She loves them all very much.
