    THE DIGITAL SELF

    Schedule: TTH 8:30-10:00 AM

    I. APPLICATION

    1. If you open your FB account, do you keep your identity public or private? Why?
     If I open my fb account I keep my identity public, its because my fb account is for educational purposes
    only and I make sure that my friends there are the people whom I personally know for me to get an
    update to them and to get information that I needed to clarify. I also want to be safe especially now a
    days that scammers are all over that world and we should not trust people whom we don’t know, for us
    to feel at ease every time we open facebook. During this new normal education, we do our class
    through online so teachers required that every students should be have a facebook account and it
    contains our whole true name for easy access if ever there’s a problem, also I really need to have an
    access to my classmates to ask some questions if ever I have problems about my academic.

    2. What would be the possible “benefits” and “risks” if your online profile is made public?
    - There’s a lot of benefits yet there are also risk if we made our online profile public. For the benefits:
     Easy access to our love ones
     Opportunities to meet others with shared interests all over the world
     Can find an online friend
     Can get a lot of information nationwide
     Opportunities to strike up personal friendships and potentially relationships with compatible
    individuals all over the world
     There would be a possibility that you can find a job online.
     Etc.

    - For the risks it would be:


     cyberbullying (bullying using digital technology)
     invasion of privacy.
     identity theft.
     your child seeing offensive images and messages.
     the presence of strangers who may be there to 'groom' other members.
     Be scammed from strangers.
     Etc.
