2. CC.1.3.1.F – identify words and phrases in stories or poems that suggest feelings or appeal to
the senses.

Procedures: ( Step by step bullets of how your lesson will develop. Include questions you will ask and
examples you will provide)
Introduction to the topic with the Mr. Potato Head
Review question about the 5 senses
Use Mr. Potato head to review what each sense is for
Go through the example questions in the PowerPoint
Explain the directions of the worksheet and the stations
Have the students go to each station and write on their worksheet
Bring the students back together and go over what each of the stations were
Review what we learned and preview what we will learn tomorrow
Closure: (A brief wrap-up of questions for students to check to see if they met your objectives. Not a
place for assignments or homework (they are included at the end of “procedure”)
Assessment/Check for Understanding: How will you measure if the students have met the lesson
objectives?)
2. I will know if the students met the objectives if they know the 5 senses and can describe
objects using related vocabulary
2. Giving the ELL a worksheet with directions in Spanish and a worksheet in English
4. Using a hands-on approach with the stations will allow the ELL to follow along with the lesson
easier (stations)
5. I will use visuals (Mr. Potato Head) for the ELL to see what senses we are discussing
6. I will write on the whiteboard what the 5 senses are and some examples of how we use them.
7. ELL will receive a print out of the PowerPoint to look/read at their own pace or refer back to.
