FEATURE
Mian Farm Cottage is located in a truly idyllic, rustic piece of property.
The building’s distinctly modern design manages to take full advantages
of the locale. This cottage has a fine view of Ba Vi mountain range and
is sheltered by existing trees and bushes. Mian farm cottage features two
main units, with the firstly hosting the living, dinning and kitchen areas.
Farm aim was to create a place far away from the city which produces
fresh food and a green space, a great landscape and for families
gathering. In order to conserve resources and improve the case of
construction, the building was created out of steel.

ARCHITECTURE
Mian Farm Cottage was created out of steel
which made the entire cottage to be completely constructed in just two
months. Also using steel frame lowered its costs.
Talking about its exterior, the building block seems to be floating above
the grass. It’s horizontal shape makes it form simple and modest. This
cottage includes large glasses used as walls and through the glass
surfaces, we have a clear view of the garden and the mountains. The
design also includes wide porch which not only prevents much sunlight
entering the cottage but also helps expand the space if necessary. There
is a complete separation between the public and private spaces. To
enclose the central kitchen and bathroom inside the glass box, local
laterite was used. Laterite means a clay. Laterite is a clay-like soil found
in tropical areas rich in iron which oxidizes and gives it a reddish color.

LIGHTING
STRATEGIES
Farm Cottage is rich in natural light. It shows the connection between
inside and outside spaces which bring about the inspiration for
designing. To emphasize a connection to nature the designers used lots
of open glass walls to bring in nature light. Also for protecting the
interior from heat gain with massive awning that extend over a gathering
friendly patio.
The windows offer a 270 degree view of the surrounding farm and
Vietnam's Ba Vi mountain range, and they also allow ample sunlight to
naturally light the residence's interior. This Building design
reflects a desire for a connection between the inside and outside using
the clean lines of modern architecture and an abundance of glass in the
façade.

CRITICAL
ANALYSIS
The designer of the Mian Farm Cottage, design the cottage in very
simple way and not using the very advanced things. Inside the
cottage the designer did not used much furniture. The main
furniture used in living room is, there is sofa and chairs and
dinning area in living room. The designer had used glass wall,
which connect the garden and cottage. By using glass wall, the
views of the garden is clear from inside as same as the outside.
The designer did not create much rooms in cottage, the whole
cottage had designed into two units. The main unit is living room
and another is kitchen area. The kitchen area is separated by a wall
and a door for in and out into kitchen. Although, the Cottage
offers a unique interior of glass doors. Privacy in the main area of
the Cottage is pretty deem as it is visible from the outdoors.
