LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH FOR GRADE 8

Content Standard: The learner demonstrates understanding of: contemporary Philippine


literature as a means of responding to the demands of the global village; various extended
text types; lexical and contextual cues; appropriate and polite oral language, stance, and
behavior; and use of imperatives, prepositions, verbs, and wh-questions.

Performance Standard: The learner transfers learning by: explaining the need to be
cooperative and responsible in today’s global village; using appropriate strategies to
comprehend extended text types; using lexical and contextual clues to understand unfamiliar
words and expressions; using imperatives, prepositions, and appropriate and polite oral
language, stance and behavior in various information-sharing formats.

Learning Competency: EN7G-IV-f-6.2: Formulate who, what, when, where, why, and how
questions.

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the learners will be able to:

a. Identify what are the WH-Questions.


b. Improve student’s conversation skills with WH questions.
c. Formulate WH-questions.

3. Motivation

“The Mystery Box”

 The teacher will instruct learners to dance while passing the


mystery box when the music starts playing.

 The student holding the mystery box when the music stops will
pick a question and answer it.

Questions:

Who is your crush?

What is your favorite movie?

What is the last thing you ate?

Where did you come from?

Why are you studying?

How are you today?

4. Lesson Presentation

 Presentation of objectives and discussion of the lesson.

WHAT – the interrogative question “what” is used if you are


asking information about something.

Example: What is your name?

WHO – the interrogative word “who” is used when you


want to inquire about a person or about people.
Example: Who is that artist?
WHEN – is used to refer to a time or an occasion.
Example: When is Joana’s birthday?

WHERE – is used when referring to a place or location.


Example: Where are you going for college?

WHY – is used to obtain an explanation or a reason.


Example: Why are you so upset about it?

HOW – is used to describe the manner that something is


done.
Example: How are you going to make it?

A. Activity

 The class will be divided into four groups.

 Each group must provide the correct WH word to each question.

 The teacher will be giving a cartolina and a markerfor each


group for them to write their answers.

 Each group must wait for the teachers signal before they raise
their answers.

 The group who gains the most number of points will be the
winner.

 Are the questions easy to be determined?

 How did you come up with the appropriate WH-word?

C. Abstraction

 Who can give me the WH-words that we have discussed?

 Who can give me the function of each word?

D. Application

 Find a pair and list down 6 WH-questions that you want to ask
your pair. After that, pass your papers in front. (15 points)

IV. Evaluation

 Create a WH-question for each statement. (10 points)

 My name is Eren Jaeger.

 I am 35 years old and I am a registered nurse.

 My birthday is on July 29.

 I am very hungry because I have not eaten my breakfast.

 I live in Bonifacio, Taguig.

V. Assignment

 List at least 5 WH-questions that you want to ask to your Father,


Mother, Sister, or any loved one. Your answers should be written
in your blue notebook and will be submitted tomorrow.
