EARTH SCIENCE
ACTIVITY 1

Direction:
Using an application known as “Solar System Scope”. Explore different planets
and fill out the table using the information that can be found on the application. Once
done filling-out the table, answer the guide questions below.

GUIDE QUESTIONS

1. Which of the given planets was the smallest?

 Among the given planets, Venus was the smallest.

2. Which of the given planets has the shortest day?

 Among the given planets, Saturn has the shortest day.

3. Which of the given planets has the least gravitational pull?

 Among the given planets, Uranus has the least gravitational pull.

4. Based on the numerical data provided by the application, which data do you

think shows that the earth can support living organisms specially humans?

 Based on the numerical data provided by the application, it is the mean distance

from the sun that shows that the Earth can support living organisms specially

humans because our planet is just at the right distance from the sun.

5. Which planet was considered as the “least dense”?

 Saturn was considered as the least dense.

6. On the four given planets, why do you think Uranus has the longest solar orbit

period compared to the others? Explain.

 On the four given planets, Uranus has the longest solar orbit period compared to

the others because it is the farthest planet from the Sun.

7. Between the four planets, which one is considered as “the planet that rolls

around the sun”? Why?

 Between the four planets, Uranus is considered as “the planet that rolls around the

Sun” because it has an axial tilt of 97.77°, meaning it effectively rolls around the Sun

“on its side” compared to the other planets on the Solar System.

8. Earth and Venus are considered as sister planets. Why?

 Earth and Venus are considered as sister planets because they nearly have very

similar size and interior.

9. What is the region of the solar system that separates the terrestrial planets

from Jovian planets?

 The region of the solar system that separates the Terrestrial planets from Jovian

planets is the Asteroid Belt.

10. What is the origin of the moon?

 The origin of the Moon is that it formed as a result of collision with newly-formed

proto-Earth, The material ejected from this impact accreted to form the Moon 4.3

billion years ago.
