IV. OPERATION
1.PRELIMINARY NOTE
1.1 Check the 9-volt battery by setting the ON-OFF switch to
ON. If the battery is weak, a “[+*]” sign will appear on the
display. If this does not appear on the display, proceed as
below. See MAINTENANCE, if the battery has to be
replaced.
1.2. The mark, or sign, “ A ” next to the test lead jacks, is for
warning that the input voltage or current should not exceed
the indicated values. This is to prevent damage to the internal
circuitry.
1.3 The function switch should be set to the range which
you want to test before operation.
2. Voltage Measurement
2.1 Connect the BLACK test lead to the “COM” jack and the
4RED test lead to the “V/Q” jack.
2.2 Set the FUNCTION switch to the desired V position. If not
Sure, set to the highest range.
2.3 Connect the test leads across the source or load under
measurement. The polarity of the RED Lead connection will be
indicated at the same time as the voltage.
‘3. Current Measurement
3.1 Connect the BLACK test lead to the “COM” jack and the
RED test lead to the “A” jack for a Maximum of 200mA. For
a maximum of 20A, move the red test lead to the“20A” jack.
3.2 Set the FUNCTION switch to the A range to be used and
connect the test leads in series with the load under
measurement. The polarity of the RED lead connection will
be indicated at the same time as the current.
4. Resistance Measurement
4.1 Connect the BLACK test lead to the “COM” jack and the
RED test lead to the“V/Q”jack (Note: The polarity of the
RED test leadis “+” ).
4.2 Set the FUNCTION switch to the Q range to be used and
connect the test leads across the resistance under
measurement.
4.3 On 200MQ range, if short the two test leads display
reading is 10MQ, this 10M9 should be subtracted from
measurement results .
5. Capacitance Measurements
5.1 Before connecting the test capacitor, note the display which
may have readings other than zero each time the range is
changed. This offset reading will not affect the accuracy for it
can be overridden by true value.
5.2 Connect the test capacitor to the input sockets (or test leads)
noting the polarity connections when required.
Units : 1 # F=1000nF 1nF=1000pF
6. Diode and Audible Continuity Measurement
6.1 Connect the BLACK test lead to the COM jack and the
RED test lead to the V/ jack. (Note: The polarity of the
RED test lead is “+”)
6.2 Set the FUNCTION switch to the “ —}+ ” Range and
5connect the tést leads across the diode under measurement,
display shows the approx forward voltage of this diode.
6.3 Buzzer sounds if the resistance between the two probes less
then approximately 702 +202 on the “ -»)) ” Range.
7. Transistor hFE Test
7.1 Set the FUNCTION switch to the hFE range.
7.2 Determine whether the transistor is NPN or PNP and locate
the Emitter, Base and collector leads. Insert the leads into the
proper holes in the socket on the front panel.
7.3 The display will read the approximate hFE value at the test
condition Base Current 10 p A, Vce 2.8V.
8. Audio Frequency Test
8.1 Connect test leads or shield cable to“COM” and “V/Q”
jack.
8.2 Set FUNCTION switch to kHz range, and connect test leads
or cable across the source or load under measurement.
8.3 Do not apply more than 250Vrms to the input, indication is
possible at voltage higher than 10Vrms, but readings may be
out of specification.
8.4 In nosiy environment, it is preferable to use shield cable for
measuring small signal.
8.5 Use extreme caution to avoid contact with high tension
circuits when measuring high voltage.
9. Temperature Measurement
9.1 Set the Function-Range switch at the “TEMP” Position.
9.2 Be sure the polarity of the thermocouple put the cold end
(free end) of the thermocouple sensor into the temperature
testing holes(TEMP+ and TEMP- ).
9.3 he working end (testing end) on or inside the object being
tested.
9.4 The value of the temperature is shown on the display in
degrees centigrade(‘C) .
10. Logic Measurement:
10.1 Connect the RED test lead to" VOmA" jack and BLACK
test lead to the "COM" jack.
10.2 Set the Function switch to the desired "LOGIC" position.
610.3 Connect the test leads cross the source or load under
measurement and high voltage will show“ 4” and low
voltage will show“ W”
11. Inductance Measurement
11.1 Select the range switch for the maximum expected
inductance. Connect the alligator clips to the inductor leads.
11.2 Read the display.
12. Digit Hold
The push switch is used to hold the display reading when the
instrument is disconnected from whatever was being measured.
13. AUTO POWER-OFF
It will be automatically cut off in about 15 minutes after the
power is turned on. It needs to be turned off and turned on again
to continue the Power.
14. BACK-LIGHT-DISPLAY
The BACK-LIGHT will be light when turn of the
BLCTR switch.
V. MAINTENANCE
Your digital Multimeter is a precision electronic device.
Do not tamper with the circuitry. To avoid damage:
1, Never connect more than 1000VDC or 700 VAC.
2. Never connect a source of voltage with FUNCTION switch
in OHM position.
3. Never operate the DMM unless the back cover is in place and
fully closed.
4. Battery and/or fuse replacement should only be done after the
test leads have been disconnected and POWET OFF.
VI 9-Volt Battery Replacement
Note the condition of the 9-volt battery using the procedure
ee above. If the battery needs to be replaced, open the
attery compartment cover, remove the. spent battery and
Teplace it with a battery of the same type.
VI Fuse Replacement
iqonould the fuse need replacement use only 200mA fuses
identical in physical size to the original.
