Topics: 1. Be Internet Awesome 2. Google Educator’s Group and Professional Development Program 3. Positive Discipline and Psychological First Aid The webinar started at 8:30 in the morning with an opening prayer. It was hosted by Sir Deejay and Ma’am Gennifer. Then, followed by inspirational message from Ms. Mary Manzano of Google Philippines. She is the Founder of Gtech Guru, supporting the Google for Education as Education Lead for Philippines. She shared that in the Department of Education, Google workspace for Education is given for free to all teachers and staff. For 2021, learner accounts were created for all students as well. She also mentioned that since 2020, Google has donated thousands of free vouchers to qualified teacher in DepEd who are interested to take the certifications. The program is still ongoing and supported by both ICTS-Ed Tech Unit as well as NEAP. Video Infomercial re: DepED Radio-Based Instruction and DepEd SIM Cards and Mobile Apps were shown. The first topic was entitled: “Be Internet Awesome.” The speakers were Ms. Genevieve Marie V. Puyat, a Product Marketing Manager Consumer Marketing from Google Philippines and Mr. Adrian Luke Cruz, an EdTech Coach of Google Educator Philippines Emeritus and Google Certified Trainor and Ms. Rowena A. Reyes, a Head Teacher III from Makati Science High School and an EdTech Specialist. A video was shown to deepen and know what to be an internet awesome is. BIA (Be Internet Awesome) a program that can be used by teachers, learners and parents during distance learning. The program is designed to provide the resources to help educators teach students about digital safety and citizenship. As per Ms. Puyat, this program will help the learners to be safe, confident explorers of the online world. BIA aims to bring kids, parents and educators together to actively learn and participate in the conversation, with resources made just for them. Mr. Cruz gave the five pillars, 1. Share with Care – Online reputation Care 2. Don’t Fall for Fake – Phishing, Scams & Credible Sources 3. Secure Your Secrets – Privacy & Security 4. It’s Cool to Be Kind – Online Harassment 5. When in Doubt, Talk It Out – Questionable and Inappropriate Content. He reiterated the importance of defining and encouraging Internet Brave Behavior. Ms. Reyes encouraged the teachers on BIA integration to their lessons for the coming school year. She gave emphasis on the integration of the BIA in the Curriculum on the following learning areas: (Grades 1 to 6) Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao, EPP/TLE, Araling Panlipunan and English. She also reiterated that the learners should be protected on the use of the technology. The second topic was entitled: Google Educator’s Group and Professional Development Program. The speaker was Ms. Maan Santos De Guzman, a Grade School Principal at Reedley International School. The speaker introduced the Google Educator Groups (GEGs) and GEGs Professional Development. She also discussed certification program (Micro Certification). It has two levels, the Certified Educator Level 1- for the teachers to demonstrate core proficiency to use the technology effectively in the classroom and the Certified Educator Level 2- for teachers who are aiming to redefine their practice with the effective use of technology. GEGs will help the teachers to keep them updated online during the pandemic. She invited the attendees on GEG Philippines Youtube Channel on September 7, 2021on Balik Eskwela 2021 and she also encouraged the teachers to join the GEG because of the advantages that teachers might get from joining the group. Before she ends her talk, she shared that, teachers play a very important role in the nation building because from them the learners learned different values. The third and last topic for the morning session was entitled: Positive Discipline and Psychological First Aid. The speakers were Mr. John Jefferson Sevilla, a Master Teacher I from Las Piñas National High School and National Teacher Broadcaster and Mr. Genaldo C. Dagsindal, a Licensed Professional Teacher and Registered Psychometrician. Mr. Sevilla would like to focus on the mental health of the teachers on this time of pandemic. According to him teachers are hardworking, accomplishing lots of paper works. When pandemic came, there were factors affecting the lives of the teachers, when it comes to finances, physical and mental health factor. The session enabled the participants to fully understand about mental health and how to deal and cope with it. The second speaker were asked different questions on mental health. Mr. Dagsindal explained that everyone of us has a mental health, according to WHO, mental health is a state of well-being in which an individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and is able to make a contribution to his or her community. He said that Filipinos are known to be resilient people. We do overcome different challenges like disasters that happened in the past. He also said that many of us are encountering economic crisis (wave 2) due to retrenchment because of the pandemic it affects the livelihood of the Filipinos. There is so called wave 3- mental health crisis. The stress level of all sectors in the community increases most especially those who were retrenched from their jobs. Mr. Sevilla said that it is a must for everybody to always seek the help of professional health workers. We need to be strong, well and adjusted for our learners. As per Mr. Sevilla, we need to focus on our needs and if you have more than enough learn how to share it with others. A piece of advised from him to enjoy and cease every moment, keep on praying and if you feel that want to give up, just tap a friend or look for a professional that will help you. DAY 4 AFTERNOON SESSION SCHOOL YEAR 2021-2022 In order to promote the continuous improvement of the total professional staff of the school system. And to eliminate the deficiencies in the background preparation of teachers and the professional workers in education. The Department of Education together with the Educational Technology Unit implements the Virtual In Service Training from August 30- September 3, 2021. Day 4 In- Service Training afternoon session is divided into two concurrent sessions. The first session covers photo editing, banner design and digital illustrations and the second session contains motion graphics and music production. Participants are asked to choose one from the two concurrent sessions to attend at the start of the afternoon program. Session 1 officially starts at exactly 1:00 PM. The program is hosted by Sir Deejay and Ma’am Gennifer. After showing the topics on that day, it was followed by DepEd TV Christmas ID (Tuloy ang Pasko) performed by Deped TV teachers and broadcasters. The Google’s Be Internet Awesome Program that aims to help students be safe and responsible users of the internet was shown along with ABCDE of Security which tackles the importance of protecting privacy, security and safety. The first session has two topics: 1. Photo Editing and Digital Banner using Gimp for Instructional Video Development, discussed by Mr. Lorenz Villaflor , National Teacher Broadcaster and one of the winners during the 2019 regional competition in storybook writing for kindergarten. 2. Digital Illustrations using Krita for Book Illustrations and for instruction Video is presented by Mr. Arvin Key Barles, also a National Teacher Broadcaster and Gawad Buhay Awardee. The first topic talks about GIMP or GNU Image Manipulation Program, a multiplatform tool suitable for a variety of image manipulation tasks, including photo retouching, image composition and image manipulation. The speaker discussed the important tools in GIMP and their functions. Mr. Villaflor also explained how to download and install GIMP and demonstrated how to remove background on image, recolor photos, and delete some details on the image and steps in creating banners and thumbnails. Second topic is all about Digital Illustrations using Krita for Book Illustrations and for instruction Video. Mr. Barles discussed how to turn simple pen and paper to digital art using Krita and the difference of digital and traditional illustrations. Understanding basic illustrations color elements, common illustration layouts, navigating Krita environment and using Krita to create graphics and illustrations are the focus of the discussion. Session 2 officially starts at exactly 1:00 PM. The program is hosted by Sir JanJan and Ma’am Pam. After showing the topics on that day, it is followed by DepEd TV Christmas ID (Tuloy ang Pasko) performed by Deped TV teachers and broadcasters. The Google’s Be Internet Awesome Program that aims to help students be safe and responsible users of the internet is presented along with ABCDE of Security which tackles the importance of protecting privacy, security and safety. The topics of the second session are: 1. Basic Motion Graphics using Hitfilm Express for Instructional Video Development, Music Production presented by Mr. Adriyel M. Santiago ,DepEd TV Editor and motion graphic artist. 2. Music Production using Noteflight for Instructional Video Development, presented by Mr. Diosdado A. Parungao, DepEd TV National Music Composer and Narrator and Resource Speaker and Training Workshop for the Development and Production of Instructional Videos The first topic is about downloading and installing the Hitfilm Express Application, Hitfilm Express is free video editing software with professional-grade VFX tools and everything you need in creating instructional videos.The presenter differentiates motion graphics which describes moving or animated graphic design and animation a whole field of moving imagery. Uses of Motion Graphics in Video Lessons, such as OBB,Pop-up Graphics and Uses of Motion Graphics in Infomercial are also discussed in the video. The highlight of the discussion is the demonstration on how to create motion graphics for video lessons. Second topic discusses the importance of music production. The presenter said that the integration of music is an effective tool for teaching and learning process especially for elementary levels. Stages in the music production are also explained. Composing Music using Noteflight is the main focus of the discussion; Mr. Parungao explained how to use Notefligth, , creating a Noteflight account, how to navigate the interface and explained the functions. The speaker demonstrated how to interpret and enhance the quality of the song “Lutong Bahay” with musical accompaniment. At the end of the session 2 a video was shown to remind us to first, use the power of the internet to spread positivity and respect each other’s differences. Second make an effort to support those being bullied and never hesitate to report online bullying. And lastly be internet kind. Vinset Day 4 2021, session 1 and 2 ended at 4:30 PM.
