Eastern DFC Route will be approximately 1847 Km long from Dankuni to Sahnewal
(Ludhiana) via Dankuni – Asansol – Dhanbad – Gaya – Sonnagar – Mughalsarai – Allahabad -
Kanpur – Tundla Aligarh - Khurja - Hapur – Meerut – Saharanpur – Ambala– Sahnewal.
EDFC Phase-1 covers the construction of double line electrified section of approximately 343
route km length (Double Line) between Bhaupur and Khurja, and EDFC Phase-2 covers the
construction of electrified section covering approximately 388.14 route km length (Double
Line) and approximately 29.15 route km length (Single line) between Mughalsarai and New
Bhaupur (excluding) & EDFC Phase-3 involves construction of single line electrified track of
about 404 route km between Khurja-Meerut-Saharanpur-Ambala-Sahnewal (near Ludhiana).
The Sahnewal – Pilkhani section of Phase -3, covering approximately 182 route km of
Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC) is located between Sahnewal – Pilkhani along
Ludhiana to Khurja section of Indian Railway. Sahnewal – Pilkhani section will have Five (5)
junction stations (New Plikhani, New Kalanaur, New Shambhu, New Shirhind and New
Chawa Pail) and Nine (9) Crossing Stations (New Jagadhari, New Darzpuri, New Barara, New
Kesri, New Dukheri, New Ambala, New Sarai Banjara, New Mandi Gobindgarh and New
Khanna). The section has been planned with 1 no of Integrated Maintenance Depot (IMD)
(New Chawa Pail) and 3 no of Integrated Maintenance Sub Depots (IMSD) (New Jagadhari,
New Kesri and New Shambhu).
The route alignment of Freight Corridors is mostly parallel to existing adjacent Indian
Railway Track. However, alignment is on detour at some locations to avoid
social/environmental/wild life impacts. The Project entails construction of double-track
electrified railway lines capable of handling 32.5-ton axle load, longer trains than currently
used on Indian Railways. The bridges and other structures will be designed to allow
movement of 32.5-ton axle load while the track structure will be initially designed for 25-ton
axle load, operating at maximum train speed of up to 100 km/hr.

PREFACE
The purpose of this design document is to provide the Design calculation for structure and its
foundation for 25kV & 132kV Power Supply Installation (PSI) Equipment installed in the Supply Control
Post (SCP) in the CP304 Project. The design philosophies adopted, design checks and the references
used for this design were detailed below.
Design philosophies
The design of foundation for supporting transformer is designed for the weight of transformer (core, coil
and oil). A transverse load due wind pressure and seismic load is also considered in analysis and
design.
The oil bund is designed for a storage capacity of 110% of oil capacity of the transformer. The design
of wall and base slab is performed for loadings due to earth pressure on the outside and base pressure
acting in upward direction respectively.
If any other additional cases encounter in this project, separate design calculation will be provided as a
supplementary to this document in the later stage.
This document contains the design for supporting structure for various equipment in SCP listed below:
With reference to Clause 4.4.1 of Part2, Section VI, Volume 2 of bid document, the
specifications and codes which are utilized in evolving this design document are listed below,
• IS 875 (Part-3) – 1987 – Code of Practice for Design Loads (Wind Loads)
• IS 1904-1986 – Code of practice for design and construction of foundations in soils: General
Requirements
• IS 1893(Part-1)-2002 - Criteria for Earthquake resistant design of Structures.
